A good, hard-working, well-coached, team of 11 men sits in 11th place tonight with 11 wins, 11 draws and 11 defeats. Nice. Well Done Rangers. |

0-3. Can't see it, I'm afraid. Literally and figuratively. The romance.... [Post edited 14 Feb 17:52]

'Theirs was an ebullient first movement, purposeful and threatening, like a Vaughan Williams symphony.' Absolutely. Superb analogy, superb report, fkn annoying result. Thank you. |

Am still particularly angry and dejected today - and we didn't play badly at all. We've played so much worse this season (Oxford H first half, Bristol City away) and got good results. Yes, it's the manner of the last-ditch defeat but, for me, a tight 1-0 defeat away to Coventry still has a particularly horrible, historical, resonance.... [Post edited 12 Feb 20:34]

They actually reached the Semi-Finals of the ENGLISH FA Cup many, many, many years ago. Still have the most Scottish Cup wins (10) outside the Old Firm. A grand old, old club - crucial to the development of football in Britain in the 19th century. Very pleased for them, but I guess yet another Celtic treble is now utterly certain. |

Slightly off topic, I didn't click that FL Cov now play twice in 4 days (Leeds H tonight, Ipswich H on Sat in this strange thing called The FA Cup 4th Round) while we, metaphorically, put our feet up for next Tue. Famous last words...but it must give us a useful advantage? Back to topic, yep, I feel sorry for their fans. [Post edited 5 Feb 9:50]

Absolutely...particularly as he was already above retirement age at the outbreak of hostilities...in the Great War. Very impressive. |

So, 21.30 hrs (GMT) has come and gone. We have signed precisely no one. We have released precisely no one. Unless I am missing something. The tension is palpable. [Post edited 3 Feb 21:35]

Yes - Sheff Utd promotion this season not certain at all. Sheff Utd relegated next season with under 25pts if promoted - utterly certain. |

Yep - no doubt about it now- Jimmy is off. I get all the financial reasons and the reality of modern football. Just sad though. |

Yes - this. I was getting my hopes up when Sheff Utd signed Harry Clarke - but even I underestimate the obscene advantage that parachute payments bring. If Jimmy does go, there is a sudden vacuum at the club - yes we have Steve Cook back, but Jimmy was particularly talismanic in recent times - from THAT Brum goal onwards. Hopefully, we absorb this - but the gap to 22nd place suddenly feels a lot more relevant than the admittedly smaller gap to 6th right now. |

If true, my only thought on this is that Sheff Utd might be in the Premier League next season but not the season after. I reckon they would seriously challenge Derby's record low 11pts total next year in the best Southampton style. No chance of survival. Would Jimmy want to be part of that (inevitable) culture of miserable failure? I know money talks, but so does exhilaration, momentum, enjoyment, hero-worship, optimism and still good money. Everything he has with us now and going forward. [Post edited 23 Jan 14:55]

Ah...but how could you forget that Derby had 12 pts deducted that season and Reading 6? Meaning that, on the pitch, the safety barrier in 21/22 was the good ol' 47pts. We're still doomed - Marti/Zavi out definitely. |
