Taylor Harwood-Bellis may not have played right back for us before this spell but he has played it for other teams before including City. If City have played him there with all of their options then clearly by the team that trained him it is considered one of his positions. |
| News Comment | Southampton at West Ham United The Verdict at 13:50:03
I cannot understand how somebody can watch that game and point the finger at the two centre backs. Firstly, centre backs don’t have the sole responsibility for marshalling a free kick, that is very much a team effort. Secondly, this is the premier league, there are going to be moments of class from the other side and goals are going to be scored, failing to score at this level (especially against a team that was also in the relegation zone) is a failure of every other member (other than the cb’s) of the Saints team. I’m sorry but it just feels like every report is an opportunity to pat yourself on the back for saying for the last three years that we needed an experienced cb (FYI a striker is far more important in our current failings, pretty sure I remember you celebrating getting Mara and Walcott) and then go on to say don’t worry we might go on to avoid relegation - how are we going to do that if our players can’t get it in the back of the net! |

Why is it that player ratings and match reports go up on the day if we win but if we lose they are severely delayed. Not happy to let the people vent? |

Odds of Nick being replaced as editor of UglyInside suddenly shorten with rumours of the membership feeling he is now out of touch growing from inside sources being leaked. Rumours indicate that Watt could be a natural successor with larger numbers of articles appearing in his name. Left field scenarios involve Danny Ings taking the position with plenty of free time on Saturday afternoons now sitting watching boring Villa but rumour is he is only willing to do it if Bednarek steps in to Watts role and Jan just can’t see himself thinking about anywhere other than the marvellous city of Birmingham anytime soon. |
| News Comment | Football Fixtures Set To Resume Subject To Resourcing Issues at 12:17:11
SaintMark, I think you are being a bit ridiculous rather than Nick, football needs a lot more policing than cricket and horse racing, that is just a simple fact. Not just at the actual football games but after the matches, whoever heard of vandalism/brawls after Goodwood. A quick google reveals football takes about 65 police just at an average premier league game (let alone needed across the city before and after) , so 650 on premier league for a weekends fixtures when a lot of forces are already having to redeploy to London. |
| News Comment | Southampton Said To Be About To Launch £40 million Bid For Dutch Winger at 13:34:56
Not who we need, Tadic has only played 36 more games in the same competition and scored 66 goals in that time and got 67 assists. So Tadic got 0.5 goals per game and 0.51 assists per game. Gakpo on the other hand is only achieving 0.32 of each a game. In the premier league Tadic was only able to 0.13 goals per game 0.22 assist per game. Obviously the Eredevisie is not as competitive a league as the Premier league. Can’t see that Tadics number would improve upon our current wingers so surely this guy would actually be a reduction. Elynousi was 0.2 goals per game and 0.1 assists over the last two seasons. If we have the money and are employing money ball then clearly better ways to spend. |
| News Comment | Spanish Side In Talks For Southampton Midfielder at 11:39:04
Hi Nick just so you are aware a club not wanting to pay the full wages of a transfer target does not have to frustrate a transfer, clubs can sell while topping up the wage for the remainder of the contract. E.g. say the player is on £50k a week but the buyer only wants to pay £30k a week, the seller can agree to cover the difference for the remainder of the contract. This allows the buyer to get the player at the wage they can afford and the seller to get rid of part of the wage and get a transfer fee. |

StRipper - Gareth Southgate, Nigel Adkins, Alan Shearer and etc were referencing medical evidence. By your logic I cannot comment on the earth being round based on reading scientific journals. MLT on the other hand was referencing unverified sources with no credibility. Then again you are doing the same as I have checked your reference to Chris Kamara and there is no evidence of this being linked to his jab (not a single article saying this) so I am not sure you will appreciate this reasoned argument. God knows where you are getting your stats on so many young people dropping dead from the vaccine. |
| News Comment | Saints Set To Open Talks With Fraser Forster Over New Contract at 06:07:35
I can’t see FF accepting £30k a week, far nearer £50k. With his contract nearly run down he will be able to strongly argue that he could go be second goalkeeper at a wealthier club and be paid that to sit on their bench. While he might accept a couple of £k’s dropped to actually get some game time I can’t see him dropping £20k. Man U pays there second keeper £100k a week, Chelsea £52k (for Mende where Kepa was getting first keeper salary), Arsenal £63k a week, etc. |
