Blimey, I'd forgotten about The Corner Post My old man and I were members of London Saints, very handy for getting tickets, often used to meet Terry in there to pick them up Also went up to Manchester with them for the quarter final against United in the mid 90's, met up with a mush who lived in Hornsey who let us leave the car outside his house |

Last minute winners against Hull and Millwall, nice cross for Armstrong's winner at home to West Brom and a really measured volley away at West Brom to put us on the way to a vey important away win I really enjoyed watching him play for us a couple of seasons ago, he reminded me of David Connolly, a classy player who was past his best but capable of turning draws into wins Probably shouldn't have given him a 2 year contract after his loan but it's easy to judge in hindsight [Post edited 23 Jan 17:28]

Confirmed on the OS that he's gone to Oz on a permanent transfer Thought he was really good during the promotion season but another who's not getting game time this season off the wage bill [Post edited 22 Jan 21:35]

It was rather tongue in cheek tbh Right now I'd settle for not losing on Sunday, a mid table finish and hopefully build some positive momentum for next season |

I've always felt Downes is a system player, particularly Martins style of football where keeping possession and ball recycling seems very important. The last time we were in the championship he was key to playing this way, when he got injured against Huddersfield we were all over the place and had much less control in the midfield for the rest of that game and for the next few before he was back in the team He played exactly the same way for Swansea, I remember his performance when we played them in the FA Cup a few years ago, the game when Valery got sent off early and we won it in extra time One thing that I noticed from the highlights was the way he won the ball back and created a chance that Azaz should have buried and put us 2-0 up |

I'd love to see the team walk on the pitch with that played at ear bleeding levels on the PA system A complete headf++k for opposition players and supporters What is the walk out music nowadays? I remember it being One Vision when we were at The Dell and for some bizarre reason Sex On Fire when Mark Wotte was manager Always felt we should play Steamroller by The Family Cat, with a chorus line of "And the Saints are playing at home today" what could be more fitting? Make it happen Sports Republic! |

If its the same formation, tactics and line up as it has been for the last two league games then it will be the same outcome Wilder is no mug and will plan for that and they'll beat us comfortably The naivety/ arrogance to think that you can keep doing the same thing and the results will change does my nut in Another evening of trying to keep myself busy and not think about the match, then sticking SSN on in the deluded hope that it will be different tonight and seeing we're losing again awaits. Whoopee |

January signings are hard enough when you're doing well We're dropping like a stone and possibly being dragged into a relegation battle so its going to be a pretty hard sell convincing a player to join Much as I'm hoping we can improve the squad we have a history of dreadful signings in the not too distant past Carillo, Sulemana and Onuachu come to mind, all very poor signings and lost the club millions Hoping for a decent loan from a prem side, but that will probably be late in the window as we won't be the top choice of destination for anyone [Post edited 20 Jan 19:22]

They already have, Tim Lederer who joined us from Hoffenheim is head of scouting They might as well ask Helen Lederer, she couldn't do much worse [Post edited 20 Jan 17:25]

 | Forum Reply | Tonda is doing a great job at 17:10 20 Jan 2026
To be fair to the club if we hadn't have given him the job and whoever else had taken over and lost their first two or three games I don't think I'd have been alone in saying we should have given the job to Tonda Whilst I was cautiously happy with his appointment full time I've always felt he needed an experienced assistant and coaching team to support him, not his under 21 coaches and some dude who has been sacked by Bristol Rovers, Swindon, Colchester and was last employed by The Right To Dream academy in Ghana |
 | Forum Reply | Tonda says he's NOT worried about being sacked. at 21:15 19 Jan 2026
Being an under 21 coach is very different to managing the first team An under 21 coach's job is to develop young players and prepare them for first team football, whilst its good to win its more about player development Totally different in the first team, you're judged on results and not much more Personally I think its just he's a young, inexperienced manager who's been worked out, hasn't developed a plan b and is in charge of a toxic dressing room where the senior players who should be setting the standards are letting him down Spors must have known that there were issues with the dressing room culture before TE was appointed so why he felt appointing the under 21 coach who had no experience was a good idea looks foolhardy to say the least I appreciate that he won 6 out of 7 but the performance away at Millwall and the drop off in the second half of games was concerning [Post edited 19 Jan 21:16]

I doubt he is Getting the sack doesn't have the stigma it used to have nowadays, numerous sackings made Mark Hughes a vey rich man and he can still pick up jobs in the game When he goes it will be a shame as we'll have lost another coach who was doing good work with the u21 side Also he'd be extremely foolish to come out and say that he was fearful of losing his job, any credibility he had left would be gone |

The last 3 paragraphs could be what the club use in the summer when selling season tickets Just add be in that number and secure yours now and bingo Joking aside its a shambolic state of affairs |

That reminds me of how I felt when we lost 2-1 at home to Doncater in about 2009 We scored late on through Saganowski? and I could barely bother to raise a cheer I wanted to come to the Leicester game as the FA Cup still means a lot to me, but were doing something else in the evening and more importantly I can't be arsed with it all at the moment |
 | Forum Reply | If I could have 10 minutes with Tonda at 13:23 18 Jan 2026
I'd bypass Tonda and bowl into the dressing room Forget the hungry eyes nonsense I'd go full on John Sitton Check out his infamous half time rant when he was manager of Orient if you don't know who I'm talking about *warning- c-bombs and industrial language aplenty |
 | Forum Reply | When does the bad feeling end? at 13:01 18 Jan 2026
This kind of sums up how I feel about Saints and not wanting to constantly post negative views all the time At the risk of being patronizing to anyone my granddad told my dad something when he was a nipper and he said it to me when I was a similar age "If you want to support a team that wins most weeks then maybe Saints aren't the team for you" Easier for me to say as I know I'm not a Sotonian but I've never forgotten that We are a provincial club and were going through a poor spell that most clubs of our size do Whilst being quiet work wise recently, I'm self employed, ive taken the opportunity to sort out a load of stuff around my house and found a box full of old UI and On The March fanzines, reading through some of them again reconnected me with the passion and obsession I had with the club when I was younger. It also made me realize how lucky I was to have been old enough to experience going to matches in the 80's and early 90's and experience proper terrace culture. Standing under the east stand at The Dell and the spurs away fa cup tie in 1990 in particular are some of my happiest memories of watching The Saints I try to be pragmatic about where we are as a club right now, if we have to get relegated again to have a clear out and re-set then so be it. Whilst I try to convince myself that I don't care anymore, its bollocks, my wife just rolls her eyes when I go off on one and tells me if I'm not going to bother wasting my time with Saints anymore then I should "probably get the badge you have tattooed on your left arm removed then" We were pony when we got relegated in 2005, a complete shambles when we went into administration in 2009 and recovered and we will again UTFS |
