Stateside Jack's meeting with club
at 05:29 16 Feb 2019

Tummer, I agree that I don't think as a group there was any intention to step on toes. Obviously the Supporters Trust was notified etc. But even you should be able to agree that Marc and Jonathan worded the first statement very poorly. Considering the current legal action of the Trust, and the opinion of supporters towards the ownership, any statement needed to be worded very carefully.

I don't believe for a second there was any intention of making it sound like the SSJ knew something other supporters didn't. But with the ownership insisting the Trust sign a NDA, it really looks bad when an international supporters group chooses to gain that same info under the same terms.

The follow up statement was much better, but I hope the damage isn't already done.

CCV has had it made very plain to him that if he wants to be in consideration for the US squad in the upcoming World Cup Cycle, he needs to be playing regular minutes in Europe, somewhere.

Considering he's not breaking into Spurs first team next year, I would not be surprised at all to see us try to sign him in the Summer, even if it means another loan deal.

Oh, make no mistake. Levien and Kaplan need to go, and Jenkins shouldn't be welcomed back any time soon. I am simply trying to figure out what could have been done a couple years ago before we were relegated, that might have at least avoided this mess.

Perhaps there is none. Just simply pondering over some possibilities in my head.

That very well might be true...but again it shows that there has been a major disconnect between HJ and the new ownership since the take over. The best solution in that situation is to ask him to step aside, and appoint someone who will follow what you want.

Of course, there's a bunch of blame on Jenkins as well for not doing his due diligence in terms of who he was selling the club to. I was worried the minute Levien was brought in and a DC United Supporter famously told me "everything he touches turns to S**t"

I probably should phrase this better. I think that Levien and Kaplan knew what relegation was. (There's been a growing movement to implement it in the US after the National Team missed the last World Cup) I just don't think they understood the razor thin margins that we were walking on when they took over.

You can't get away with poor managerial appointments (See Bradley, Bob) and you can't get away with poor transfer windows for very long. Not when you have the budget that we have.

They should have asked HJ to step aside immediately after that disastrous window where we waited way too late to sell Gylfi.

I'll throw this out there before I'm calling it a day. Apparently spending time posting on UK based fan forums is frowned upon at my work.

I don't believe that tweeting the hedge fund group is going to have the effect you hope it does. Levien and Kaplan likely don't understand supporters anger, and will probably just respond by blocking or deleting their account. The other investors own such a small stake that they probably have no idea that they even own the club.

I know the concept of protesting is not seen as a positive here. But until you can get the Supporters Groups to use official methods to get their attention, the best way to get the attention of them is to hit them where it hurts...financially. The chants are great, but I guarantee you Levien and Kaplan expect you guys to be pacified now that Jenkins is gone. Why, because that's how it would work in the US. If the club is struggling, if supporters are angry, you sack the person you have running the club, get rid of all of your top earners, gut the club from top to bottom and start over.

Unfortunately, attempting that at Swansea probably puts the club back in League 2.

I just don't believe that Levien or Kaplan really understood what they were getting into when they bought the club to begin with. I have said before, owning sports club in the US is often seen as an investment over here. Since American sports do not consider relegation, and leagues are structured in a way where even the poorest club has a chance to compete financially, there's little fear with taking majority ownership in one.

My belief from the beginning is that they are trying to run Swansea like they are running DC United, and that's just simply not possible. They run DC United without fear of relegation, knowing that MLS won't let anyone sign more than 3 expensive players, and that they are allowed to claim any local US Talent they want, and automatically get their rights when they turn professional.

I think they are legitimately surprised that supporters are angry. They just don't have the knowledge or understanding of how to run a UK based football club to make things as successful as they dreamed of being.

From the discussions online, the goal from the beginning was to simply arrange a meeting. Levien had indicated in the past he would be amenable to meeting with US Based supporters, so a lot of us jumped on attempting to get that to work.

I stepped out of the discussion forums after saying my peace briefly, so I have no idea what they put in the final letter. My request was for transparency with supporters as to what is really going on within the football club. I've yet to actually venture across the pond to see the Swans in person (Though I hope to in a year or two), and I have only been a supporter for 10 years or so. I can't compete with those who have followed the club for the whole lives. They should be the ones listing the grievances.

I am glad they chose to try and get the Supporters Trust involved. It feels to me like all supporters should be working together on something this important.

I'm still here, I just generally stay quiet and read along.

If anything, I've found myself following less of the PL this year since relegation.

That's my fault. My computer autocorrected it from Blackpool to Blackwood. Apparently, it does not consider Blackpool to be a word.

Every FA Cup Match from Round 3 onward is on televised on ESPN+ in the United States. From what I saw from the Round 2 Replays that were broadcast, it's not much, but its something. Of course, that might have had something to do with watching Blackwood play a non-league side at home in front of thousands of empty bright orange seats.

CCV, Rodon, and VDH all in the starting XI. Looks like a 3-5-2 that might become more of a 5 man back line when WBA is on the ball.

7th place, 1 point outside the playoffs and 5 off top

Strange season. All 5 of our losses have been to clubs 11th or lower in the table. Our best results have all been against the supposed "top clubs." That includes a season opening win away to Sheffield United that has aged very well.

US Midterms..
at 06:34 8 Nov 2018

Oh, Trump has a ton of supporters. If you spend time in the deep South or in Middle America, you are going to find large groups of people who think he's one of the greatest things to ever happen to this country. He recognized that there was a large group of Americans who identified as deeply conservative, and felt marginalized. Frustrated by a Democratic Party that is moving left, and ignored by more establishment Republicans who chose to compromise to get things done.

No matter what happens, he's always going to be able to easily pull a lot of votes. He once famously argued that he could shoot a guy in the middle of Times Square and still get elected. Now, go spend time in New York, LA, or any large metropolitan area, and you'll probably find loads who hate his guts and want him impeached.

Does that mean he'll easily win re-election? Not sure. He has lost a lot of ground with women and Suburban American lately. If he wants to win in 2020, he'll need to figure out how to get those groups back.

One of the biggest issues I have in US voting now is too many vote straight along party lines. A heavy conservative in Upstate New York who is currently facing a 99 year prison sentence for insider trading still won re-election tonight. The reason? He was in a heavy Conservative district, and a large majority of Americans still base their vote on the little r and d next to a person's name rather than what they know about them.

I swear I've spent the last 10 minutes alone trying to figure out who is going to play where. Two right backs, and what four or five wingers in the starting XI.

Given the midfield crisis as it is, I think we'll almost have to run out a 3 man backline tomorrow. Probably going to need Olsson and Roberts helping out in the middle of the park

I think after a match like that we just sort of have to accept a point and be grateful if we get out without any major injuries.

Good thing Montero is already hurt. If he wasn't, he would have been by the end of this one.
