If the Championship had a trial season playing walking football I’m convinced we’d still have just as many injuries. |

Didn’t JS have form on this at previous clubs, a bit ropey at setting up defensively in games where you know you’ll be up against it.
He’s doing a very good job overall, so we might just have to suffer these aberrations once in a while. We know the type of team that will roll us over, have done for some time to be fair, way before JS showed up.
2 points from the top 5 last year, a little better this year although I’m not convinced Swansea will be top five come May, does mean we need 2 points a game from the other 18 clubs, which is still a pretty big ask.
As you mention, injuries aside, we are sound like for like, but we do need something different that’s designed to snuff out problematic opposition players that cause us problems. At the moment it’s too easy to brisk past the likes of Poku, Saito, Dembele, Vale and it’s the poor old full back who bears the brunt. |

Not the end of the world.
Played 6 of the top 8 and 7 of the bottom 15, so 8 of the next 10 should be teams we can compete with. Half way we’ll have a better idea.
We know it’s 6th to 8th we are chasing, heads down and make that the aim.
Six months to get a little bit better, knock out tournament then anything might happen. |

Was it really a 442?
To me, Vale was tucked in, in what is essentially a three across the middle. Poku was dropping back when required but for me, Smyth was part of a three up front and told to run into that 2nd position whenever he could.
It worked brilliantly, but I say it was a 433 that regularly broke out of that.
Whatever, Smyth is a different player when he receives facing the goal. |

My trainers are ruined but what a fantastic day out, another great report.
And well done slotting in the intro for Hawaii 5 O for the younger supporters delectation, if they get as far as the credits they’ll notice Kono’ appeared in that too, in the same swashbuckling style he shows at his best, on the pitch. |

Been my favourite since he stepped on against Orient.
A loyal servant who’s carried on regardless in some sides that could stink the place out. He deserves to see some success, ideally a Championship medal and a place in the top league. |

Very enjoyable and entertaining game, you don’t get too many sides who come down here to play football and we showed, for first time in many years, if you want to play so can we.
Watched Swansea beat Norwich recently, but their defence looked vulnerable behind their full backs in a game Norwich could have won in the first half. JS clearly set us up perfectly for this game.
Much has been said about 442 yesterday but it felt to me that having three essentially central midfielders out there in Kamara, Varane and Vale was the key. We could drop into a 442 when required with Poku, who had a very good game, transitioning either 442 or 433, but the three midfielders really restricted them moving the ball into space.
At the moment the table suggests 76 points gets you eighth place which is extremely high, it may be that their are eight or nine teams this year who could equally get automatic promotion or miss out entirely on the play offs. |

Yes, apparently Putin is going to cut our cables, Iran have infiltrated and will initiate bacterial warfare against us, malicious actors are going to shut the entire internet down.
At least that’s what all the media reports concentrate on. Of course, it’s all bollocks as they mislead us, as ever.
The true reason is our energy policy under various governments has put us in a position where we import virtually all our energy, have removed most forms of storage, purely on the basis that if we aren’t drilling it out of the ground we don’t need it. The idiots in charge don’t want us to hear this but if your lights do eventually go out and your frozen food rots, you can be sure they’ll blame everyone apart from the actual villains, themselves. |

You’re dead right, I try to pretend it’s not really there these days. When it gets warmer I think I’ll have a go at dismantling it. No doubt I’ll start with a screwdriver and end up with a sledgehammer! |

I seem to recall 2002/03 was a pretty good season. A pre season you could describe as a specific turning point…

Standard jobs for the boys stuff.
100 staff, that’s more than one per club, and to do what?
If they need £18 mill then maybe cut out the middle man and the premier clubs could just give that £18 mill to the 72 clubs in the EFL. £250,000 each not to be sniffed at.
You cant help feeling that the biggest winner here will be the Independent Football Regulator. |
