Bit disappointed with the 2nd half as we gave them far too many opportunities to fire free kicks and long throws onto our penalty spot. Like Swansea we did not finish the game with a 3rd goal and it was uncomfortable viewing. Stuart Armstrong's race was run after an hour after which he became their best player constantly losing the ball and misplacing passes. When Brooks came on I was sure it would be for Stuart and was amazed to see Fraser taken off instead. Might be a bit churlish but when we are so much on top we need the 3rd goal otherwise we will get punished one day as Plymouth so nearly did at St Marys..
I went to the cup Game at Millmoor when our GK SPERRINGš¤ punched Mark Wright in the face coming for a cross Breaking his jaw.. Have I got that right memory fades as you get olderš¤
One bad injury and the move and money is gone forever. Thatās why they move so early.. Imagine if Shaw had suffered that broken leg at Southampton. He may never have made the big time. In theory I agree with Nick but in reality if you are out injured for a year do you want to be earning Ā£10k a week or a Ā£100k
Agree Nick. Win at Cov and this is a good point.. Our obsession with Pompey is pathetic. Small time and no help to the team at all.. Embarrassing Iād rather not sit with the mongs.
Manning did well to track back but the fact he pulled a muscle doing so tells you everything you need to know š¤·āāļø Just prior Downes got him off the hook after a catastrophic pass saw us outnumbered on the break. His delivery was the usual poor standard and he stood off players as per usual because he just does not have the pace to defend properly. There is no way he should be playing ahead of Breeā¦
We do have an end. The chapel. Our dinlos choose to sit as close as poss to the away fans for the banter and then complain that we donāt have an end or they canāt use their seats for cup games. We have an end we always have had an end we just choose not to sit in it and then complain we donāt have an end š
Missed Manning LOL Bree was much more secure defensively and contributed far more than the statue going forward too. Started the 2nd half comfortably ?? We started it abysmally and nearly gave a goal away before they eventually did score. It was comingā¦ Defended the corner well? Leaving players unmarked on the edge of the box suggests otherwiseā¦ Mara? I think he has probably had enough chances now and is just ineffective. What we should have done is switch Adam A up front where he wants to play and bring on either Stuart A or Kamaldeenā¦ Bizarre management tbh.. Otherwise agree with most of the verdict. A good few days on the road and beat Brum a superb weekā¦
No problem with that .. Itās the rules.. 2 inches is the difference between a goal or a penaltyā¦ If he refereed the game reasonably well then thatās what countsā¦
Good result and application from all Concerned. Look at their goal and see how slow Manning was at getting out to the ball if at all. This happens ALL the time and because the opposition donāt always score hardly mentioned. I donāt think his fitness levels are allowing him to perform at this level. If thatās down to injury problems Iāll cut him some slack. Other than the fact he is left footed there is no reason to Play him unless he improvesā¦
Kicking to the Chapel 1st half has two major benefits.. One we kick to our vocal fans 2nd half.. Two the away team doesnāt.. So clear and obvious and I am astonished no one in the club has picked up on itā¦
You have to have good players to play the system we play. Harry Winks is the best player in the league bar none and when we knew JWP was going we should have been ALL IN to sign him. He was constantly under pressure receiving the ball from His back four and ALWAYS wanted the ball and ALWAYS beat the press. Our defenders and midfield players are totally unsuited to the system and actually resemble a kids team they are so bad at itā¦ Where do we go from here new team or new manager ?
The starting line up was ridiculousā¦ Che Charles in defence is an experiment that started in pre season and it didnāt work then and it doesnāt work now. It has cost us 2/3 pathetic goals already but the biggest crime is it means we lose him from midfield where he offers the defence great protection. To not start him at all At Sunderland and then play him at CB in the last two games has contributed greatly to 3 defeats. Next Bernard Manning. Reminds me of Dan Fox who was equally as shite. Itās got to the stage where James Bree is going to have to play and JWP move over to left back. A mannequin would be better as positionally at least it would be in the correct place every now and then. Next Aribo ahead of S.Armstrong and / or Alcaraz - WTAF!!! Next Adam Armstrong in midfield !!!!!!!! Next Fraser on the left does not work.. Edozie plays well on the left so swap them over FFS!! So much wrong with that line up it actually beggars beliefā¦
You donāt really need leaders to think wait a minute all Of our players are attacking Id better stay back and mark this bloke. Even at the level we played if the opposition kept one up for corners youād keep two back to cover. Basic stuff for pub teams let alone professionals..
Too much talk about this game. Yes it is an opportunity for their fans to take the piss which is going to annoy the few Saints fans that turn up but really what does that matter? From a footballing perspective it is a good game. Local for both sides with no travelling so logistically makes sense. A good test for both teams which is what they both require at this stage of pre season. The logic with regard to players leaving and/or staying could be used for ANY friendly so are we just supposed to train until we sort that out? Of course not.. I am very interested to see how we line up how we play and how competitive we are. Just people getting their knickersd in a twist about AFCB something I have never been able to do in decades because I just don't care about them at all...
I can understand fans leaving. I choose to stay mainly to let them know what I think of them as they pathetically wander around empty stands clapping. This is week in week out and thatĆ¢ā¬ā¢s why people leave. They want to come and support the team and they are faced with crap. Not occasionally but EVERY game. This team this club deserve nothing less. What do you expect a full happy clappy stadium singing weĆ¢ā¬ā¢ll support you evermoreĆ°ÅøĀ¤ā They need to see and feel the fans disgustĆ¢ā¬Ā¦
Being honest and realistic a draw before the game would NOT have been an acceptable result. Due to the state we have got ourselves in we now have to win games we are not expected too. We nearly did but we didnĆ¢ā¬ā¢t. Draws are simply not enough. Same next Sunday too. That said I was proud to be a Saints fan Friday. An Arsenal friend of mine messaged me Friday and said your team owe you an explanation. If youĆ¢ā¬ā¢d fought like that ALL season you wouldnĆ¢ā¬ā¢t be bottoms of the league. EXACTLY Ć°ÅøĀ¤Ā·Ć¢ā¬ĀĆ¢ā¢āĆÆĀøĀ
