Why Van Dijk Needed To Stay And Then Had To Go !
at 11:41:30

Sadly, with the cost of football these days it is not only mercenary footballers and contracts ignoring agents but "so-called" Fairweather fans who are attracted to a team that a couple of years ago were nearly every fans "second" team. They come in on the success bandwagon and can't ever get that there are lean times as a football fan as well as good. We reached a current pinnacle when we got to finish 6th. That was way above what most teams of our size can hope for in the modern game. I have supported Saints since 1968 we have had much worse teams and coaches than now several times. As a supporter you live for the wonderful days but you still support through the times when things don't go to plan. I believe in the long term future of our club, The people running do not deserve the abuse they get. Yes I'd like to compete on level terms with the Manchester clubs and the London clubs but with our capacity and our standing in the World we are still a small club who aim to get bigger by being better. It takes time and a lot of good fortune but we will get there, or as near as is possible one day. Have faith keep supporting and one day our ship will come in.

Saints About To Make First Major Signing Of The Summer
at 09:16:15

So all the bedwetters say we need a central defender and a forward and we are spending £20 million on a midfielder who will be back up for Romeo. Guess they are not satisfied then? Or is ANY £20 million signing a show of strength in the transfer market?

Feyenoord Fans Show The Difference In Supporter Culture
at 08:42:32

Yes I agree Nick it is nice to see the great commentsabout Spider and parting on good terms and I hope there will be no animosity towards Toby when he returns or even Clyney, although he did string everyone along for quite a while, these are three players who contributed greatly to a wonderful season last season.Let's celebrate the good but remember that times move on. As a younger man I remember my devastation when Mick Channon joined Man city and even wrote to him asking why, got a reply too, much tresured. Some of the nastiness from "fans" of Liverhampton towards Sterling is sickening this is a still very young player who feels he's worthy of a new start. Good luck to all new signings everywhere, just hope ours prove to be the best! 'specially that Rodriguez forward we signed from Staplewood he looks the business!!

Saints Are Going On A European Tour And Its Good News
at 11:23:12

So good to seea measuredand positive posting concerning our qualification. The football"experts" are already talking us down for next season due to the "supposed" negative effects of the Europa league. Personally I see the 3rd qualifying round as a good start for Jay Rod and a good way to give some u21's a chance. Also useful for players who sit on the subs bench only normally getting 10 or 15 minutes football. Now that there is no reserve league as such only the u21's u18's etc. will also be good for testing players fitness returns from injury. Then, as we progress and expand our squad and come up against better oppostion in the group stages more senior players can take over. Most top 6 teams have to used to two games a week on a regular basis and if the team are successful then fatigue rarely is a factor. Look at Chelsea who used less squad players then anyone in the top 8 last season but won the league by a mile and also the Capital One cup. Thursday/Sunday playing should affect a successful team no more than Wednesday / Saturday morming or Saturday night/ Tuesday as it will be for many of the Champions league teams. Plus we have a manager and coaching staff ready to cope with the experience of being positive about this scenario. Let's embrace the Europa league as our first attempt to progress towards Champions league in the coming years. Onwards and upwards Saints.

Would The Sale Of Chambers Be A Step Too Far !
at 11:10:42

Yes I do think Chambers to Arsenal will be a step too far. I have been satisfied that the departures so far were players who had had their heads turned by the higher wages to be earned at the "big" clubs and the "reality" of champions league football in the future. But this is a player who has barely broken into the first team, has not even hinted that he is unhappy and looked to be a great prospect for the new season. I don't believe in "fire sale' rubbish or the board being inept. Les reed was in charge of transfers under Cortese as well and Koeman was impressed by Les Reed enough to take the job on. Koeman and his brother are the public face of the club now, other chairman and football directors and club owners don't make press statements. When was Abramovich interviewed about the sale of David Luiz or the signing of Drogba? No i believe this is just the "big six" of the Premiership flexing thier muscles and ensuring there will be no breaking of this highly lucrative cartel. Even Everton are seen as a threat hence the claims over Lukaku being sold abroad, Ross Berkley being purchased no matter what price, Leighton Baines is still on the radar even after a terrible world cup. No the players bought are not for the regular first teams and will be "bench warmers" or in Callums case back into a developement squad with maybe a couple of substitute appearences later in the season. The conspiracy is not from The Saints board it is from the Premier elite. Thow shalt not be in a postion to upset this applecart. I shall support Saints even if they put out a team of under 18's against Liverpool but please stop slagging off the board the statements from the manager are still positive and he is the public face of the club just as any other normal club. The only reason anyone from the board was forced to make any statement to the press was because Mauricio was so unhappy with press conferences. Ronald Koeman is not. COYR

Saints Fans Need To Keep Calm Its A Marathon Not A Sprint !
at 11:45:23

We have had a terrible six and half weeks and all the press and pundit speculation is true. However, it is a similar time to the start of the season, it's half time now is the time for a comeback something the Dutch are very good at it seems. We have the structure and the facilities and the manager to make those who have departed regret what they have done starting at Anfield on day one another victory there will make the doom merchants sit up and take notice that we are here to stay>
