Saints V Liverpool The Verdict
at 11:56:07

Nick, you have been bemoaning the fact we simply cannot cut out our costly individual and collective mistakes at the back. This has been going on since Fonte left and van Dijk embarked on his great sulk. You can copy and paste an awful lot of match reports from the last couple of seasons. The fact these costly errors at the back have plagued us for so long makes it all the more baffling RH did not start by sorting his defence out once the transfer window opened. it is early days yet but...is the Brighton game now going to define our season already?

Why Kevin Danso Has To Play Against Liverpool
at 09:23:12

It is quite incredible the club has been willing to simply ignore these defensive short comings for so long. We managed to escape the drop twice in that period. But, this arrogant and suicidal stance will get us relegated. Once the Man U game is out the way, we could well have no points on the board. Ralph is a good manager but he is no miracle worker. Are we looking for 3 worse teams already?

Saints Reject Lemina Bid
at 17:17:27

Lemina had the misfortune of managerial turmoil and questionable fitness. To implement RH's philosophy, he needs a squad which can be relied on, on the whole, to stay fit. Should Saints get a really good offer for him, I say...reluctantly....sell him. He is far better than his performances for us suggested...great shame...but...

Saints Fans Need To Trust The Club's Transfer Strategy
at 10:19:25

I think the main transfer policy has to be...hang on to Ralph as long as possible. Saints transfer policy can be argued for or against but it needs an innovative manager to implement. Koeman was that man and it would seem Ralph can make it work. Mistakes like the three managers in between the mentioned two has highlighted this.

The Thoughts Of Chairman Gao
at 13:24:29

SaintNick,

It is entirely possible to turn up week in, week out supporting the team, home and away and be critical of the way the club is run. Time and time again, we are told to get behind the team and stop bellyaching. Yet, with attending live EPL becoming ever more expensive, I think we are bound to get more critical. The highlight of the last two seasons have both come when the final whistle blew on these campaigns and the relief of staying up. Faith and loyalty are part of any true fan's DNA but it is not inexhaustible.....as are his finances. I would like to see a campaign where we are well clear of danger and maybe see a cuprun. I would like to see a period of stability. I would very much like to see regular fan forums as we did last season. Unfortunately, all we can do is wait and see and hope the club start heading in the right direction. Like every other club, we are now at the mercy of our foreign owner.....for better or for worse.

The Thoughts Of Chairman Gao
at 00:22:07

There are those who take whatever the club says as gospel. There are those who don't. Unlike the author of this article, I do not for one minute pretend I have any insight into the thinking of our owner. I do know we survived two seasons where relegation looked inevitable. I dare say our luck will run out if we continue to treat the Premiership with contempt. But, this coming season we shall see whether our owner is the real deal or something else. After the last 2 1/2 seasons...are we not entitled to feel a degree of scepticism or cynicism.

Brighton In A Dilemma For Saints Visit.

We should not worry about Brighton's preparations. We should concentrate on ourselves. It is easier said than done but winning games will get us out of trouble. Talking about it won't.

Won't You Come On Over Valery !
at 10:53:47

The only thing this guarantees is a pot of gold for the club, the player and his agent once he is sold for big bucks to one of the vulture top 6 clubs. Now, we cannot stop a player leaving once he knows he can double/treble his wages somewhere else. As a fan, I find it frustrating and galling but have to accept it. What I find hard to accept is our alarming regression since Koeman left. Our recruitment has been solely based on the financial director's viewpoint and nowhere near enough the manager's needs for the team. A good beginning would be recognizing a winning team generates income and not the other way round. A good start would also be by trying to hang on to RH as long as we can and not treating good managers as expendable when clearly they do not grow on trees.

Ten Days That Changed The Season !
at 13:58:20

Saturday, we were very lucky. As the article says, at half time things looked grim. A combination of Ralph H having no choice but to go for broke an Spurs' arrogance saw a remarkable transformation. Last season we escaped because Swansea had an even bigger deathwish than we did. This season, if we are to survive it is almost because RH is determined to drag us over the line singlehandedly. I seem to remember Nigel Pearson doing something similar in the Championship. This is now the second desperate relegation scrap we have been involved in in successive seasons. From recent European qualification to relegation scraps in only a few seasons is can hardly be labelled a success.
Accounts may well look healthy but if we continue on this path, we will surely go down and the finances will go south rapidly.

Ings Misses Spurs Game
at 16:48:38

Even if Ings stays fit for the remaining fixtures, can we really afford to make his move permanent? The club has made too many dud signings recently. IF we survive, there has to be a root and branch reform of our transfer policy.

Saints At Manchester United The Verdict
at 09:54:26

How many times have we patted ourselves on the back after a "glorious defeat" only to revert back to type the next game and put in a dreadful display? Bottom line is we conceded a winning goal with minutes to go once again. With 9 games to go, we really need to start putting points on the board, hopefully starting on Saturday against Spurs. Our chronic lack of leadership has been obvious once Fonte/van Dijk decided they were too good for our club.

All To Play For Against Fulham Tonight
at 08:39:17

The minor meltdown is due to the fact last season Swansea had an even bigger death wish than we did. We all knew we got desperately lucky. We all know we cannot rely on teams around us imploding again. On top of which, our defending is still suicidal at times and our sicknote attack has quite predictably broken down again. And we are supposed to have faith in it all?

One Focus And One Focus Only For Fulham Game

It seems quite bewildering the PR and commercial departments at St Mary's have not seen fit to drop the prices to ensure a full house. Given the desperate situation we once again find ourselves in, you do wonder what if they are capable of clear thought.

Saints At Arsenal The Verdict
at 11:19:50

Very difficult to make a case for staying up. The individual errors are not going to be cut out by some miracle now. We probably all expected to lose but...we could have been 5 down by half time. The most baffling thing was the Tenerefe trip and RH's chance to really get to grips with the team and the problems. Hmmmm....quite. I was surprised to see Stephens start against Cardiff but yesterday's inclusion was bewildering....and it cost us..AGAIN! Obafemi being injured and Ings now a few more weeks away has summed things up at St Mary's. WHAT is the thinking behind it all?

Even Le Tissier Refutes Van Dijk's Twisted Truth
at 10:51:43

WHY on earth would VvD rake this up after almost a year? Liverpool's behaviour during this unedifying saga was disgraceful but my abiding memory was that of their fans going into meltdown, foaming at the mouth when Barca tapped up Coutinho. As fat as I am concerned, VvD is just another mercenary littering our football. I look forward to the city of Liverpool collectively moving in with the Samaritans when meneer van Dijk deems Liverpool have served his purpose.

The Real Reason Why Saints Didn't Land Che Adams
at 13:35:05

Begs the question...if Adams was not available, why was there not an alternative lined up early on? The cynic in me says there was never any intention of bringing anyone in...only getting people out. We are now going into the vital last dozen of games with a squad bereft of real quality and firepower. Once the whistle goes on the last game of the season we shall know whether the board's policy has paid off or been a total disaster.

Hoedt Explains Why He Had To Go !
at 16:09:01

Nick, I must be one of the few who think you have a point. Stephens can drop clanger after clanger and he seems to be forgiven because " he is one of our own"? I think RH was told to get one high earning centre half off the books and he opted for Hoedt. Before the Palace game we were all quite optimistic, now we have all come down to earth with an almighty crash. Every team we have yet to play now know how truly flaky our defence really is.
