Southampton V Tottenham Hotspur The Preview
at 17:45:21

Interesting to read the author is saying we need to get away from a scrap at the bottom. We are very fortunate Fulham squandered 3 points with 2 last minute goals in their last two games. Our form over the last couple of months has been dire and the semi was such a damp squib. As for Ralph.....this is a results driven industry....... I am sure Ralph is tearing his hair out and his desire for investment is very laudable but......you do fear the club will lapse into the same mistakes which cost us so dearly.

Time For The Premier League To Unite And Let The Big Six Go
at 13:00:44

The irony and hypocrisy of the Premier league is breathtaking. When they formed the Prem, it was all about money then. Every fan belly aches about their foreign owner thrashing the club's or country's traditions but cheer him to the rafters when his money buys an expensive foreign import. The football revolution has been fueled by SKY and then Ambramovich buying Chelsea. Has anyone bought a football kit for their nippers lately? I loathe the idea of this new super league but it is a natural progression from the Prem. But...but...as much as Gary Neville's rant is real and probably heart felt, his moral argument is that of a champagne socialist. As for politicians getting involved....please. Unfortunately, this new league will syphon off a lot of money and the most exciting players. I hate it but....did we really expect anything else?

Southampton At West Browmwich Albion The Verdict
at 10:21:49

Hand on heart Nick, HOW MANY times have you had to write a match report on yet another dire and gutless display over the last 3 - 4 seasons? I think the problem lies deeper than Ralph. Yes, at times he does not help himself. Last night we could all see we were in big trouble after only 15-20 mins but he did not change things until way after HT. But, for all our lording our recruitment, fact remains we have flirted with relegation for quite a few seasons now. We also have this dreadful habit of being off the scale when we put in a terrible performance. For the life of me, I'll never understand the club giving Stephens a long term contract. WHO sanctioned that? Our back four has been a problem since Fonte left. As you state, lack of leadership continues to manifest itself. We have been lucky we have managed to finish above the dreaded line and Ralph deserves a lot of credit for that. BUT, relying on 3 worse teams every season is not a viable strategy. We shall run out of luck eventually and pay the consequences.

Bournemouth Have Selection Crisis Ahead Of Southampton FA Cup Tie
at 21:49:28

What ever the score, at least this game will be out the way. Whether the players have had this game in the back of their minds we'll never know. But after Saturday there can be no more excuses. Also, after a full week back in Soton, fatigue can also be dismissed

Southampton V Brighton The Verdict
at 10:05:05

This far from the first time we looked pedestrian and not really up for it. Newcastle away was a prime example. The manager and players had better buck up their ideas because we are counting down the games, plummeting down the league and sleepwalking into disaster. Given our circumstances and who we were playing yesterday, the performance was an insult.

Could This Weekend Be The Start Of The Greatest Ever Season For Southampton FC
at 16:44:45

On my travels abroad supporting the England cricket team, I wear an England shirt with " SCUMMER " printed on the back. As there is a lot of cricket support 17 miles east from us as well, I get quite a few questions asked about my allegiance parentage and such like by people who frequent that institution in that city. Abroad, in far flung places it usually ends up with sharing many, often too many, beers. Cricket unites...

In Ralph We Trust !
at 10:24:40

It is utterly bizarre we are backing a manager who has presided over several unwanted records. But, can we honestly say we have progressed? Here we are in the crazy situation of talking about needing 6 or 8 points to avoid relegation after hovering round the top 6 only 2 months ago. A stern word of warning....Bournemouth knew they would be in trouble once they stopped scoring... In the end they walking into relegation almost willingly. Our main striker is now goal shy and our defence has reverted to type. The alarm bells were ringing for me once Newcastle went down to 9 men. There was no urgency no belief and no idea. Yes, we may well have 13 games left but, even though we have a grim injury list, we have thrown away so many points it is a joke. Surely, we are not sleep walking into disaster?

Southampton At Leeds United The Verdict
at 11:23:36

Let us not kid ourselves. Looking at the table.... If all the teams around us pick up points next weekend and we lose to Everton, we will be in a relegation scrap. Our goal difference is now also becoming a big concern. There are those who defend our owner which is fine. But, it does not matter which league you are in, be it the Premiership or the Southern Premier League, clubs with the deepest pockets always prevail eventually. Ralph has managed to turn water into wine for two years.....but, it was never going to last. Hang on to your hats for the last 12 games......

Southampton V Wolverhampton Wanderers The Verdict
at 23:47:57

I Agree with sentiments on social media to some extent
What does get to me is the nearly constant attempts to shut down any critique concerning the way the club is run or the way the team is performing. Let us not beat around the Bush here, we are on a dreadful run and as much as we can lament VAR, it is not the reason we are in this predicament. Yes this is not a normal season but every club is in the same boat. Ralph has managed to turn water into wine but, he has also presided over some truly dreadful performances, not least two 9 nil pastings. The way this team capitulates at times is truly astonishing. There are many of us who see our owner as malign and want him gone. Yes, beware what you wish for! Our excellent start has, again, papered over the cracks. Many of us were not fooled by the lofty league position of a few months ago. I am now wondering whether we are really safe from relegation? Our defensive problems are still there for all to see as is the lack of a leader. Dare I say it...there are 3 worse teams than us but to have to rely on that every year is as arrogant as it is dangerous. There is also the pertinent question about Ralph's will to keep wanting to push that boulder up hill...every time he stops pushing it rolls back. Pointing out flaws, worries and venting our frustration has nothing to do with being disloyal or the insulting label "plastic". Looking at things through rose tinted glasses is not going to make our very real problems disappear.

Social Media Driving Danny Ings Transfer Rumour Madness
at 10:53:32

The article makes sense but the author has overlooked one fact. While the rest of us in the real world are re-assessing our finances in a post Covid world ( if there is even going to be such a thing ) it would seem Football, especially in the upper echelons have not made a serious attempt to even look at their financial positions . Ings knows there will be a club out there which is willing to stretch their budget that much more.....never mind Covid, never mind his fitness record. The much needed and overdue reality check has not hit football ......unfortunately.

Saints Still A Work In Progress !
at 10:08:12

The issue of getting Walcot in at his age, yet ignoring the fact, AGAIN, we need an experienced centre half who can lead and guide our defense is baffling. This has now been an urgent problem since VvD decided his contract wasn't worth the paper it was written on. shipping stupid and needless goals will continue to haunt us until this problem is addressed, or at least taken seriously.

Saints At Chelsea The Verdict
at 17:13:45

Bournemouth spent 5 years in the Premiership until they finally got caught. They conceded 65 -75 goals every season but this was offset by a frontline which scored freely. They went down because the frontline stopped scoring. They failed to address their defensive problems.
We also concede far too many goals and have also not been able to address our below par defense. For me the issue is simple, keep scoring and we should be ok.....but, we are far too reliant on Ings.....
I think Nick is spot on.......

Hasenhuttl Confident Of Adding To The Squad Before The Transfer Window Shuts
at 11:55:25

THE big question is...is Ralph issuing an ultimatum to the board or is this a true statement? Which ever it is, we have dropped 6 points from two games already....games we could and should have got something from. If we don't get something at Burnley...we'll be playing catch up already.

Is Greed In A Crisis Finally Turning The Fans Away
at 08:55:43

I have had a season ticket at Southampton FC for years. I am also an avid Poole Town FC supporter and bought a season ticket for £ 130 for 20 home games. This equates to £6.50 a game. IF Saints sell Ings to Spurs, I intend to send my season ticket back to the club and demand my money back. What Spurs are doing may not be illegal but it is immoral.

Saints V Brentford The Verdict
at 09:14:36

You state we have had the same issues for 4 years....and you are right. I was at the fans forum when Ralph had just arrived. I asked him about our defensive issues then. We are now 18 months on. We only have a few weeks left and the transfer window will be shut. There are so many issues to address....issues which should have been sorted a long time ago. Brentford's first goal summed up everything for me. For a long time we had very little quality but plenty of quantity. With this wafer thin squad the quantity has now also gone. I am not holding my breath on seeing any more players coming in....this is going to be a long, long season.

Saints At Crystal Palace The Verdict
at 10:57:27

Our defense is as you were...yes, we have bought another one but he won't be able to start until somewhere in October? We sold Hojberg because he wanted bigger and better things. Reed and Lemina have gone so we are no stuck with a lightweight midfield bereft of pace. I think our starting 11 is good enough to stay out of trouble....but, Armstrong missing was a decent indication that we have no depth in our squad at all. You get the impression Smallbone is now the solution according to our powers to be? Should Ings lose form or get injured, where are the goals coming from?
Injuries, suspensions and an transfer policy which has baffled at times could well be punished this time round. Yes, we managed to turn round a few dreadful results but the bottom line is we are still blessed with a flaky defense and a mentality which, for some unfathomable reason, just does not get us out the starting blocks until we are chasing the game. Ralph has managed to turn water into wine at times but, for all his brilliance, our collective luck will run out. The Spurs game is now huge already because Burnley away afterwards is not a happy hunting ground.

Now Tottenham Want Ward Prowse !
at 12:27:48

We all know JWP signed a 5 year contract....but so did van Dijk. Spurs are supposed to be broke....yet the borrowed a lot of money, at very cheap rates, which was meant to help businesses hit by Corona virus.
Should Spurs offer stupid money....should JWP want to go.....can we stop it?
My big fear is the domino effect....Ings....Ralph.....
We developed this arrogant belief we could continue selling our best players and still compete...
The board would do well to nip these rumours in the bud and issue a short...NO

Non League Football Clubs Need Your Help By Signing A Petition
at 09:31:50

I have a season ticket at Southampton but I also watch Poole Town FC when Saints are not playing or north of Birmingham. The average attendance is around 450 which makes social distancing more than feasible. The chances of seeing Saints at home this side of xmas are remote. Although I fully advocate letting spectators back in at Poole, and every other non league club, there is a danger the attendances will soar because regulars at, especially Prem games, will be looking for a live footie fix. Non league clubs will have to find a way to give preferential treatment to non league regulars in order to make it fair.

On a brighter note, perhaps people who attend a non league game for the first time will experience a far more relaxed, friendlier and far less cynical afternoon. They will be surprised at the affordable prices of tea, coffee and their pint. They will see players on a pittance compared to the prima donnas they normally see slugging their guts out for a game they enjoy....and who knows, look at Charlie Austin....make their way in the professional game. And there will be no VAR which must be a big plus.

We see Bournemouth beach rammed every sunny weekend yet non league teams are left to rot. it is a good job we are not fighting a war.....

Spurs Daylight Robbery Offer About To Be Accepted
at 07:19:47

We should have let him go last Christmas. During the forum last August last August it was quite clear he did not want to be there. Can we blame the board? Unfortunately, look at the saga down the road with Ryan Fraser. You could argue his refusal to play got Bournemouth relegated. With very few exceptions, especially the foreign players, are mercenaries. Also, why should the likes of Hojberg have any allegiance to Saints? The whole thing stinks......and it has not done Hojberg any favours. Welcome to the modern game................
