Those who played local football in the 70's & 80's may remember Kevin Hooper, on Sunday there is a charity funday to raise money for him after a serious illness.

Kevin Hooper has unfortunately spent the last five months in hospital after suffering from the affects of multiple sclerosis and a serious brain seizure, Kev was a familiar figure in local football during the 70'80's and his many friends from that era are now rallying around to raise money so that a new downstairs bedroom and bathroom can be built in his house to enable him to return home and enjoy life surrounded by his wife and daughters.

In his career Kevin played for 2nd SOUTHAMPTON CUBS, BRENDON TYRO LEAGUE SIDES, FOUNDRY LANE SCHOOL, BELLEMOOR SCHOOL, SOUTHAMPTON SCHOOLBOYS, SHIELD AND DAGGER F.C, AVENUE ARTISTS, BT MARINE F.C, FORD SPORTS F.C, PLUME AND FEATHERS F.C, NEWTON HEATH F.C and many others...He also represented the QE2 Team in goal when they played in China in front of 20,000 fans, a game made famous via the ITV broadcast of 'WHICKER'S WORLD' when the show followed the ship on a cruise. 

The highlight of the day will be a football match between two sides of well know local footballing legends of the past four decades many of whom played with or against Kev, kicking off at 1pm, its sure to be a game when old adversary's face up to each other, in some cases,  after more than three decades since their last meeting.

But the day will feature much more than that and is set to run from 11.30am till 9,00pm and will feature many other attractions including, a Youth Football Match, a half-time EX-SAINTS PENALTY COMPETITION, a Barbecue, a Grand Prize Draw and an ALL-DAY MOTOWN AND SOUL SESSION from 2 pm-9 pm.

Taking place Sunday 23rd September at the home of Sholing FC on Portsmouth Road in Sholing, Admission will be £5 for adults and only a £1 for kids, it will be the first ever grand reunion of those who played local football in its 60/70/80's heyday, come along and enjoy a fun occasion at the same time helping out a very worth cause
