Millwall have reacted angrily to claims by the Online Daily Mail that some of their fans racially abused El Hadji Diouf.

The Mail story, which was swiftly removed claimed that DIouf had been the victim of "Monkey Chants" during Leeds 1-0 loss at the New Den earlier today.

Diouf appeared to be involved in an altercation with a small section of home and in the main stand towards the end of he game and spoke to referee Mark Halsey as Leeds slumped to a fourth straight Championship defeat.

Millwall have called on the Mail to apologise and revealed they are considering taking further action. It could not come at a worse time for Millwall following claims that a 13-year-old fan abused Bolton's Marvin Sordell earlier this month, although they have strenuously denied Sordell was racially abused.

Last weekend six Millwall fans were arrested following the unfurling of an offensive banner aimed at Sordell during the win over Derby County.

Millwall claim they have spoken to Diouf who denied being racially abused and did not make any complaint about the home fans today.

However team-mate Ross McCormack @Rossmccormack44 who made his long awaited comeback today tweeted he thought Millwall fans were "embarrassing" and "some of the chants were horrible#mugs"
