Swansea Chairman Huw Jenkins has hit out against proposals to create a two tier Premier League

The Swansea City Chairman was speaking after plans were tabled by his Bolton counterpart - Phil Gartside - to create a two tier Premier League with some strange decisions as to what would create a place in the 'elite'

One of Gartside's ideas would be that places in the top two tiers would be deemed by stadium size which would see Swansea miss out but sides like Leeds and even possibly Darlington get in whilst it was also proposed to invite Celtic and Rangers although that idea has now been dismissed by the Premier League.

Reports now say that they will make a decision on the proposal by the end of next year but Jenkins is not interested in the motion tabled.

He told the Evening Post "I completely disagree with his (Gartside) ideas, it would be very detrimental to football

"We've got a system in place that's fair and allows for clubs to change and evolve over time," said Jenkins.

"We need clubs having promotion and relegation, that's why our football and our Premier League, our Championship and Football Leagues are so successful.

"If we ever take that away, it will probably be the start of the end of everything we've ever fought for and created in football.

"I don't believe anybody should be neglected because of the inability of the Premier League and Championship clubs to run themselves properly."
