Chelsea Now After Wanyama
Sunday, 20th Sep 2015 09:17

Despite the fact that the lock on summer transfer window has barely been fastened and the next one is not due to open for well over another 3 month, the media is already making mischief.

A story has emerged in the media that Chelsea will come in for Victor Wanyama, that the bad news, the good news is that the rumour appears to have started in the Daily Star, not the most reliable of sources and that seems to have started a plethora of copycat stories on the internet pages of the sports media.

Bad news as well for Spurs who did so much to unsettle Wanyama a month ago and now could see what they see as all their good work only benefit a big club as they found with their pursuit of Morgan Schneiderlin a year ago.

If this rumour is true then January will be a turbulent time for Saints although the reality is that Saints will get a lot more from Wanyama from Chelsea than they would from Spurs, although our friends at White Hart Lane see themselves as footballing aristocracy and look down at Chelsea as the hired help having won te Euro millions, the fact is that it is the Stamford Bridge club who at least come to the table with the cash to do the deal from the start, unlike Spurs who come in offering peanuts, if we can believe what we have read about them when dealing with us and West Brom.

In the meantime though hopfully this story will spur Wanyama on to recapture his usual form for Saints against Manchester United and ongoing through the season.

It's September. The transfer window is shut. Let's just enjoy the team we have up until January and go from there. You can't possibly be predicting if this is still going to be a relevant storyline in 3-4 months' time.
