Days Like These ! The Latest Saints Book Hits The Shelf This Week
Monday, 6th Nov 2017 08:57

Those chaps at Hagiology publishing are bringing out their latest book this week, Days Like These takes a look at the unseen history of Southampton Football Club with plenty of photos to stir the imagination.

So why would a book on Southampton FC involve Hitler, Charlie Chaplin the IRA, a woman who had her throat slit while sleeping with her baby and Winston Churchill?

For that matter, what have the Saints got in common with badly-fitting false teeth, lost spectacles, fire crackers and tea-towel holders? And while we are about it, why did a Southampton player decide to chop off half his little finger (and no, we are not talking about Charlie George's unfortunate accident with his lawn-mower)?

All is revealed in DAYS LIKE THESE, a new book on the Saints that looks back at quirky trivia, strange coincidences, record-breaking feats and just plain bizarre stories that have taken place over the last 132 years, from the club's inception right up to and including the 2016-17 season.

As you would expect from Hagiology it is a well researched book, but this time it has gone along a little different track than many of their previous publications, whereas those books stuck mainly to the mainstream facts, this looks at the hundreds of little events (Big as well) that have taken place in 132 years, hence it will be of interest to a far wider fan base of Saints supporters than ever before.

It will appeal to all Saints supporters young and old and not just those who like to read books, which sadly in this digital age is getting a rarer thing.

It is set out in an easy to read day to day timeline basis with hundreds of unseen photos.

The book launches on Thursday with a signing session at the Club's Megastore, keep looking on this site for more details of the launch, a review of the book and where you will be able to buy it etc (All good book shops as usual I would expect) or check on Hagiology's own web site using the link below.

Certainly doesn't sound like a contender for the Mann Booker prize to me.

From your intro Nick it seems they have been scraping the barrel to find anything else to say about Saints that has not been aired a hundred times already.

I think this is a really cool book to read for every football fan, namely a Southampton fan. I really love English football and love helping students, you can write your lab report on https://papersowl.com/write-my-lab-report">this page, I hope that this information will be useful for students.
