Friday, 18th May 2018 09:26

There is a gig this weekend in support of Football For Cancer and if that is not worthy in itself then it also features local legends Paul Simmonds and Swill from The Men They Couldn't Hang, as well as Mod/Ska band The Butterfly Collective.

Hot off their sold out UK tour Phil ‘Swill’ Odgers and Bobby Valentino are joined by Men They Couldn’t Hang compadre Paul Simmonds in a special concert at the 1865 in Southampton on Saturday May 19th.

For those who are unaware of just what Football For Cancer does then you can find out more by clicking on the link below.

Phil ‘Swill’ Odgers and Paul Simmonds from The Men They Couldn’t Hang need no introduction locally and they are joined by ace fiddle legend Bobby Valentino from countless bands including those of Dylan, Petty and Knopfler!

Phil and Paul have roots in the city of Southampton, forming their first band ‘Catch 22′ together in 1978 during the punk era. For this unique gig they will look back at their entire career as well as preview forthcoming material from new TMTCH album ‘Cock a Hoop’.

To coincide with the date Phil Odgers will be releasing a new EP. The lead track ‘Mist on the Water’ is co-written with Paul and harks back to youthful escapades in Hamble and Bursledon, whilst celebrating the rich and poignant history of the area.

With so much water under the bridge, and so much still to come, it’s a great time for these two local lads to reunite and celebrate their achievements in aid of Football for Cancer.

Great support comes from local Mod/Ska band The Butterfly Collective and you can find out more about them at
