Three Clubs After Elyounoussi
Wednesday, 7th Aug 2019 10:42

According to the media in his native Norway Mohamed Elyounoussi's agent is in talks with three clubs about moving in this transfer window.

It should be noted here that Saints are able to sell players for several weeks after the transfer window slams shut tomorrow (Thursday) in England, so it is highly unlikely that any deal for Elyounussi will be concluded this week.

Of course Saints would like it to happen now as it would free up wages and also they would know what sort of fee they would receive and that could play a part in enabling them to bring in other signings.

But as mentioned on this site before, European clubs are at an advantage in this transfer window as they can continue to trade after English clubs and so will want to wait till later in the transfer window when they know we will have no choice to do a deal on a player that is likely to play little part in the coming season.

Initially Elyounoussi made all the right noises about staying and fighting for his place, but he has now realised that he is not likely to get the chance to do that having taken part in only 45 minutes in the 5 pre season friendlies and that in the opening fixture.

Earlier this week we relayed news from Turkey that Besiktas are interested in the player and now it seems they are joined by Sevilla and Celta Vigo.

With four years left on his contract and on big wages Elyounoussi is in no hurry to leave at least not permanently unless it is the right deal for him, but he is an honest player and does not want to sit back at Staplewood and collect his money for nothing and see his career stagnate, he wants to play football.

Therefore he is open to the idea of leaving on a straight forward loan, a temporary deal with an option to buy, or even a permanent transfer.

But with the window closing in other parts of Europe as late as September 2nd, it could be several weeks yet before a deal happens.

Good luck to the lad if he moves on. There have been glimpses of real talent from Moi but he needs too much time on the ball which alas he doesn't get in the most physical league in the world. No doubt he will leave with quite a few rows of stud marks up and down his shins...
