The LFW pundits look ahead to the visit of Swansea to Loftus Road amidst a weekend of sporting action on several fronts.

Brian picked up £32.50 for the correct score at Sheff Utd last week, he would have had a bigger win had Hogan Ephraim opened the scoring when he should have done in the first half at Bramall Lane – that hasn’t stopped him backing Ephraim again this week though. That all leaves Brian on £80 profit. Lewis is down £369.78.

As I sit at my PC on Thursday afternoon looking at the last two days at Cheltenham you realise why the bookies always win. A couple of hot favourites have been turned over and only two favourites have obliged although I did mention last week about Ferdy Murphy’s horses and Poker de Sivola returned at 14/1 on Wednesday to keep me competitive it is just a shame I did not back it up in this column. I did get the correct score last week so it does put a few pence back in the bank.

You can tell a lot about a football team in the way they react to a defeat and it will be interesting to see how we deal with the defeat at Reading . Paulo Sousa floats back into town with his Swansea side who don’t score many but don’t concede any either (sounds familiar). I think we will get the win and will go for a 2-1 correct score and will stick with Hogan to get the first goal. On Tuesday Derby come to town and I will go for a 3-1 win against the Rams and remain loyal to Ephraim who should have netted us the cash against the Blades.

Elsewhere the 6 Nations comes to an end and I will continue with Tommy Bowe to get the first try in the Ireland game.

For the weekend:
£7.50 correct score QPR 2 Swansea 1 17/2
£5 Correct score QPR 3 Derby 1 S/P
£5 Hogan Ephraim to score 1st v Swansea 10/1
£5 Hogan Ephraim to score 1st v Derby S/P

£10 T Bowe to score 1st try Ireland v Scotland 9/1

£3.50 trebles and a £3.50 acca
Souyhampton 13/8
Brighton 6/4
Rochdale 11/10
Notts co 11/10

Don’t you just love unexpected treats? You’re rummaging around in your coat pocket and you find a Lucky 15 betting slip from weeks ago. It’s hard to believe the bet would be still valid owing to its crumpled state. But the £1.72 was welcomed into my wallet with open arms. People live for the bank-breaking, life-changing return but this win felt just as good. The subsequent cappuccino was up there with the best I’ve ever had – “Would you like sugar sir?”, “No thanks darling, this one will taste sweet enough”.

The sweet cappuccino was made even more sweeter with the QPR victory over West Bromwich Albion and the whole good feel vibe around Loftus Road currently. Pity the betting fund is not protracting the same cheerful vibes.

I’ve had a poor week from a Cheltenham perspective; I’ve just seen my selection in the Truimph Hurdle somehow come second after being 20 lengths ahead turning for home – I’ve got to learn to back each way, but £10 on 25/1 was just too big to turn down, I got greedy. Hopefully my fortunes will change in the switch back to the norm, football betting.

QPR host Swansea and the home side will have to be at their very best from an attacking perspective to break the solid Swans backline down. Judging by the past few home matches QPR do have the class (as we all knew if we could remember back to the autumn) to cause the best sides in this division problems and I can see a rejuvenated Rangers winning to nil this weekend at 3/1.

I will also have the rest of the QPR kitty on a 2-0 home win which is 12/1. Elsewhere, Huddersfield did everything but win the game last weekend against table-topping Norwich, and they travel to Leyton Orient with a big chance of securing an away win at 6/4 (Coral.com).

Since the departure of Owen Coyle Burnley have not looked the same side. Brian Laws seemed like the wrong option at the time and results have not suggested otherwise –Wigan should be the latest side to profit this weekend at 4/5 (VC.com). Newcastle are within touching distance of securing promotion but still are not the force that their successful results suggest. Back Bristol City at 4/1 (VC.com) to give Keith Millen a dream start to his new job.

The excess £25 will go into a saucy looking treble which if comes in will go a long way to lowering my debt into profit.

For the weekend:
£20 on QPR to win to nil 3/1
£5 on QPR to win 2-0 12/1

Bristol City to beat Newcastle 4/1
Wigan to beat Burnley 4/5
Huddersfield to beat Leyton Orient 6/4
£25 Treble
