Could Danny Rohl Return from Bayern Munich To Southampton ! Tuesday, 22nd Jun 2021 14:26 Speculation is rife that Ralph Hasenhuttl's former assistant at St Mary's Danny Rohl could be making a return to Saints after it was announced that he will be leaving Bayern Munich this summer. Danny Rohl came to Southampton with Ralph Hasenhuttl in December 2018 and stayed for the remainder of that season before accepting an offer to join Bayern Munich in the summer of 2019. There has often been concern amongst Saints supporters that since Rohl's departure that Ralph's coaching staff has lacked depth and experience with Dave Watson turning from goalkeeping coach to assistant coach with no real experience in that role, Kelvin Davies also becoming an assistant coach after being a club ambassador and Craig Fleming having had no experience above non league and academy level before being promoted in the summer of 2019 after Rohl's departure. Now it seems Rohl will leave Bayern Munich after the German side announced that they agreed to a request from Rohl to terminate his contract. There has been speculation in the German media that Rohl will soon join up with Hansi Flick as a coach with the German national team following this summer's European Championships, when his former boss will swap Bayern for the national side. But that is only rumour at this time and there is no real indication of what Rohl's next move will be leading to speculation that it could be a return to England and a reunion with Ralph Hassenhuttl. Richard Kitzbichler is the nearest Hasenhuttl has to a confidante and it was he who took over the reigns when the Austrian manager had to self isolate due to Covid 19, but he is more an analyst that coach and the general feeling is that the coaching staff is too light on experience and know how.
