Southampton Boosted By Covid Returns Ahead Of Manchester City Game
Wednesday, 19th Jan 2022 09:07

Saints have received some good news ahead of the visit of Premier league champions Manchester City with the return of at least one possibly two of the players who have tested positive for Covid in the past week or so.

Theo Walcott has returned to training after a prolonged bout of Covid that has seen him have more symptoms than most and kept him out since the New Year, his last appearance on the Saints bench being the 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on 28th December after playing 89 minutes of the victory at West Ham United on Boxing Day.

He has been pictured back in training and looks set to be included in the squad for Saturday's visit of City, also potentially back could be Moi Elyounoussi, after his substitute appearance and goal against Swansea City in the FA Cup after missing the Brentford and Wolves games through covid.

His period of isolation is over however how heavy his symptoms have been is unclear and a decision will be taken nearer the weekend.

Saints are still likely to be missing all three of the trio of Tino Livramento (knee), Will Smallbone (calf) and Moussa Djenepo who is away at the African Cup OF Nations.
