Anthony Pulis Whats The Story
Anthony Pulis Whats The Story

Saints squad for the trip to Winchester City is full of youngsters, except for one name that is and that is Anthony Pulis.

Strangely information about Pulis seems to be in short supply, his profile on the official club site lists him as signing in August 2008 on a two year contract with the option for a third, the retained and released list in May gave no mention of Pulis, but here we are at the start of the pre season and pulis is travelling to Winchester with the kids.

His profile also has a pic of him in the new shirt, so has Pulis been offered a third year and if so, why ?

In two years at St Mary's Pulis hasnt got a sniff of a first team place and injuries apart has only got the odd game when going out on loan and even then he hasnt exactly shined.

So why would Saints want to retain him, after all they released two players in Lloyd James and Simon Gillett who had played far more games in that timescale, so if they were deemed surplus to requirements , why not a player who will turn 26 in a matter of days and whose sum total of League games for 8 clubs is 17 starts plus 10 as sub.

The only possible explanation can be that either his contract runs two years exactly to August 29th, the day he signed, or that the option is on his side not the clubs, itt was strange why we signed him, its even stranger that he is still here.

There are those conspiracy theorists who blam Rupert Lowe for his arrival, but given the number of players who were shown the door in May and the lack of sentiment shown in drawing up the list, there is no logical reason why Saints havent wished him all the best and bid him farewell
