Steve started his career at Fleetwood Town after failing to win a pro contract at Manchester City.  Crewe Alex signed him in 1991 and he became a bit of a fans favourite in defence.

He stayed at Gresty Road for over 10 years where he gained the captaincy and literally drew blood for the cause.

In 2001 he joined the Silkmen on loan before returning to Crewe, getting released in the summer of 2002 and signing for Rochdale.

His time at Dale wasn't very enjoyable and he moved back on loan to the Moss Rose at the end of the year.

He signed for the Silkmen in the March transfer window 2003 and stayed for the rest of the season.

Steve has now done a full circle and has returned to Fleetwood Town where he is now the first team coach.
