Keane Targeting Second Loanee
Keane Targeting Second Loanee

Town manager Roy Keane says he has spoken to a manager regarding a second potential loan signing. The Blues boss says he’s close on his first new addition, that deal having initially been expected to go through last week.

Keane said: “I still think we need three players, we’re pretty close on one. I spoke to a manager about another player this morning in a different position, and we’ll see.

“In an ideal world I’d want three players in on loan but we don’t live in an ideal world. I think we’re pretty close on one, but I said that two weeks ago and we’re still trying to get the deal done. We’re hopeful.”

The Town boss is likely to be looking for cover in midfield, while the second prospective signing may be a right-back with Tom Eastman, a left-sided centre-half, used there on Saturday.

Keane says that neither player is former loanee Jack Colback, although he admits he has spoken to Sunderland boss Steve Bruce about the 20-year-old: “There’s no news on that front and we’re focusing on the players we have at the club. They’re all doing really well, putting in good shifts.

“Jack did brilliantly for us last year, I’ve a lot of time for Jack, he’s a good lad, but he’s been involved in a lot of Sunderland’s games. I speak to Brucey on a regular basis and there’s no news on that.”

Keane will decide on what changes to make for Tuesday's Carling Cup tie at Millwall later today with one or two players carrying knocks, while the likes of Connor Wickham and Darren O‘Dea have only just returned from injuries.

The Blues boss, who refused to comment on the weekend interview with Jon Walters, confirmed that striker Kevin Lisbie is not available for selection for Millwall under the terms of his loan.
