A marvellous open match and probably Rs best game this season. Watford are a good team who attacked with pace and strength and moved the ball swiftly. But Rangers matched them and just about bettered them for most of the game until tiring in the final quarter. Even then we had chances to break and score again.

What most struck me was that this was a game I haven't seen at Lotus Road for several seasons. Attractive football, unafraid, on the front foot, aggression - possibly a little too much at times, but so good to see Michi mixing it with the Watford defenders. We moved the ball forward with pace and Smyth was always a threat even when he looked knackered in the last 15 minutes, often stretching his back. I was surprised he wasn't subbed.

In our attempts to play quickly we sometimes gave the ball away or made rash passes, but mostly recovered the situation and held firm. In fact Watford's goal needed the help of a deflection. So good to see us trying to play good football.

The whole team played well. Field excelled in midfield, Chair probed intelligently, but Jimmy Dunne and Paul Smyth are becoming the stars of this team. Smyth shades MotM today for his constant running, pressuring the defence and he got his cross spot on for Field's header.
