The problem with England? 16:20 - Jul 21 with 843 viewsAustinHarris24

Whenever a player is identified as a talent big clubs swoop in pay well over the odds for him and then he struggles to deal with the price tag and never reaches his full potential, Ashley young and James Milner were both cracking players for villa then city and United come in take Milner for £24 million and young for £18, no way are they worth that much! Same thing happened with jack Rodwell, chris smalling, andy Carroll, Stuart downing, Glenn Johnson, swp (when he went to Chelsea) joleon lescott and many others. In my opinion Leighton baines has done it correctly left Wigan for Everton for a reasonable fee and has played brilliantly there. Players in Spain often re join the big clubs after a long spell away somewhere (Fabregas, pique, Lopez etc) and it seems to be working well for them.

Bottom line is that big clubs need to allow players to grow before throwing them into to an environment that they're struggling to cope with, unforgiving fans that are expecting trophies and huge salaries make it very difficult for a player to reach their full potential

Poll: Who is better Barkley or wilshere

It's the same at youth level, any young kid with any talent is taken on and left to die in the under 21 league rather than get 150 games in the football league before their 20th birthday, then when these kids do make a loan move aged 19 or 20 they are so inexperienced they look hopeless much like Will Keane.
The FA's answer rather than stop clubs doing this is let the big clubs sign even more kids and have a B team

England will continue to regress as a nation creating top quality footballers for as long as the Premier League runs the game. The FA is run by grey-haired old men so out of touch with that reality that Scudamore and his ilk don't even have to address things like player development, wealth distribution or player hoarding.
