Absolutely nailed on the halfwits will be singing " he's Captain of wales" etc

Most modern football fans are a feckin embarresment.

I hope he gets an "Ashley Williams - he's not even Welsh" when we play Everton ...

Michael Keane from Burnley would be a choice from left field, fine young centre back who Burnley have already turned down bids.

They want near £20m for him.

"The 31-year old defender, who skippered Wales during their successful Euros campaign in France over the summer, said his goodbyes at the club's training ground this morning" - Skysports.

Which is exactly what I said in my original post. I'm not here to stir the pot or fabricate stories, I'm just passing on info, nothing more.

F*cking hell mate, Chris Wathan had it online before you posted on here. Ta ra Nostradamus.

Or just maybe he has a close friend at the club who passes him on a bit of information before anyone else gets it.

For a player of his age, pretty much 32, it's a world record transfer fee.

Great servant, but there were lots of comments around the ground when Ash was rested prior to the euros, lots of people saying the team looked happy and played like free birds during his absence.

Must admit it did seem that way.

I for one will treat him like any other opposition player, till the game is over then if comes over to the east I shall applaud him, but there should not in my opinion be any attempt to make him welcome before or during the game. Same goes for AA at WHU. They are now the opposition and should be treated as such.

Never knew getting old would happen so quick!

£12m is a decent fee. Amat deserves his chance and will not leave us down.

It's got nothing to do with modern football. He's still the captain of our country, and a national hero after the summer so you'd expect him and all of the Welsh lads not associated with Cardiff to get a good reception but he's given everything for us in the last eight years, only missing something like seven leagues in that time which is remarkable. He's played such a huge part for us in getting to the Premier League, establishing ourselves at this level and so many great days in the last few years including captaining us to winning our first major trophy. Of course he's going to get a good reception down here and it's got nothing to do with modern football, the word legend gets overused but he certainly is a club legend.

Crazy money but that's the world we live in,who would have thought we would get £12M or so for Williams, and don't think Burnley will get that kind of fee for Clarke.

I'm sure some of the East Stand Ultras that yearn to have him back will be singing "Ashley Williams...They don't sing your name"

I'm really not looking forward to this season - it's gonna be a cringefest on the terraces.

Ash will be remembered of course.
But the city made him a multi millionaire, the only applauding should be from him.

Normally I would agree but Ash is a club legend FFS.

I will be applauding him. He has earned it.
He gave us his best years, achieved lots, and gave us a bumper pay day right at the end.
Good luck to him.

Probably our greatest ever signing to be fair
0
Goodbye Ash on 14:12 - Aug 9 with 2035 viewsKerouac

1) I would be looking at signing someone who can play anchor man in midfield and centre-half.
I would consider this player the emergency 4th centre-half and run with 2 from Amat, Fede and van der Hoorn, with the other on the bench.
So primarily he should be the dogs bollocks at anchor man.

If that bloke from Anderlecht fits the bill, great.

2) I would be looking at loaning a youngster like Chambers who can cover full-back and centre-half....and I would be looking at paying only a fraction of his wages (as it would be us doing them and the player a favour)

If we do these 2 things and secure Baston + someone like Chadli/Ziyech our squad will be looking stronger than I would have expected it to look.

So...

Out

Eder - £5m
Gomis - £ years wages (approx. £3.5m)
Bartley - £ years wages (approx. £750k
Paloschi - £6.5m
Ash - £12m
Ayew - £20.5m
Total = £48m approximately

In

Fer - £2.5m
Llorente - £5m
Baston - £15m
van der Hoorn - £2m
Aussie Keeper - £Free
Chadli/Ziyech - £12m approx.
Anchor man who covers centre-back - £8m approx.
Chambers or similar on loan - £300k tops

Total = £45m approx.

Leaves us £2.5m quid or so UP with a revamped squad and cover everywhere.

C'mon Huw, you know it makes sense.
