What's to be gained by lying?
Bolton brought 3,374, so it's got nothing to do with trying inflate or deflate away followings as part of some willy-waving competition.
Plus, if you're sat in the stand, you can't see how full it is.

We've done this so many times before, mainly with Bradford fans.
The block nearest the Sandy had loads of empty seats but the crucial thing is always the 'odd seats in a row' situation.
If a row has 25 seats it can look full with 20 people in it (especially when stood up watching anything but the game), multiply this across the whole stand and you can easily work out how how you can be a few hundred out in a guess looking at a photo. |  |
