Aye he looked in a lot of pain initially. Hopefully just a sprain - possibly ligament damage? Villa looked useless - felt sorry for him upfront with no service all game.

Villa were awful some energy in winning the ball back but then couldn't string a pass together and no organisation

Darren Anderton in disguise?

Anderton was a midfielder who played over 500 games in his career and was around when England had a half decent team.

Unfortunately Scott Hogan plays up front so may have to ask Steve Bruce to try him in a different position first.

I do indeed. Both players are associated with wearing the no. 9 shirt which, for a wide player/midfielder like Anderton, isn't what you'd necessarily think. To establish why Anderton would often be seen in this shirt you have to look closely at the numbering system Tottenham employed throughout the 80s and 90s.

Players such as Tony Galvin, Chris Waddle and Paul Allen would be more likely to be wearing 9 than any strikers of the era and it became commonplace to see centre forwards like the prolific Clive Allen in less traditional numbers for that role; in Allen's case it was 7. Fast forward to the current day and the focal point of the Spurs attack is still without a no. 9 on his back, Harry Kane preferring 10 instead.

Were Hogan ever to secure a move to White Hart Lane/new ground, maybe he'd have to look around for another number to wear other than 9. Should this situation ever arise he would be well served in looking to the past and maybe opting for 11, the shirt he donned successfully during his prolific season at Spotland. If he was to do so, the links to Anderton would be strengthened further as this was the number he wore for England during the legendary Euro 96 campaign.

I think it's just a sprained ankle - so it shouldn't define his career. (5-6 wks recovery)

Its not the first though is it, what i was meaning, hugely talented striker and I hope he makes it to the top. Its good news that its just a sprained ankle, though from personal experiences they can be as painful as a break, get well soon Scott.

I may be educationally challenged, don't think we've ever met? If you are asessing me on my posts, spellings etc, very harsh but never mind, I will try to improve and one day I may be as bright as you, if only
