Operating Losses 16:28 - Mar 25 with 3972 viewsboromat

Shows us as having 4th highest operating losses for 2017-2018. Guessing this is why we've had to sell players and increase the season ticket prices. Do we have any info from the club on how we're doing at the moment? Will season tickets go up again?

As the article states, "Although some clubs have yet to announce their results and others choose not to publish detailed profit figures" . 4th out of the clubs who have declared full figures only, not all clubs. If all clubs had declared full figures, you would see us much lower down than 4th in that list.

I am almost certain that it has been said that season ticket prices will be the same for next season as this.

Despite operational losses in 2017-18, did the accounts not show the club making a profit, albeit it as a result of player sales and the cup run/TV money?

I expect operational losses will be higher this season.

Poll: What is it to be then?

I spotted this as well but couldn't do the link.
Whilst we're not on a par with Birmingham/Blackburn/Bolton it was a bit of a jolt.
Does it include any revenue from last year's cup run or was that swallowed up by a new pitch?
It also kills the myth about having pots of cash left from the Hogan sell-on.

I had a feeling it wasn't as straight forward as the graph suggests but it's interesting all the same.

There was a specific question at the forum around season ticket prices, we were told they’d remain the same.

Presumably details will be out soon about them going on sale.

Genuine question - what has the Hogan sell-on gone on?

Is it just on keeping the club ticking over? Because if so and you are still making a sizeable operating loss in a season that contained a Hogan unbudgeted windfall and the cup run then this year's figures are surely going to be awful. You bought Spotland out before the Hogan money didn't you?

If not and it is stashed away for some purpose does anyone know what that purpose is?

The 'Hogan Money' was only ever paid in batches of small amounts, never as a lump sum.

Also aren't we paying for the stadium still through installments?

I’m not an accountant by any means but do understand a profit & loss account or company balance sheet.

These “statistics” can be selective to say the least. What they are looking at is money in vs money out at a very basic level, it doesn’t look at creditors, debtors or assets. It will be gate receipts / / tv rights / sponsorship vs wages / running costs.

It will not look at the pitch last year for example or prize money for league & cup places..

The full company accounts are required to analyse this, for example..

We started with £4 million in the bank
We payed out £6 million in the financial year
= £2 million operating loss

But in May (next financial year) we get £2 million in payments, club remains in the black but not when you look at a financial year.

If we improved the catering we would be in a positive situation 😀😂

An operating loss is not a cashflow, it (in theory) includes all revenue and expenses and takes into account debtors, creditors, assets etc (or should do if a decent accountant is preparing anyway). So assets wouldn't be counted in the operating loss, they'd be in the balance sheet.

That said, I'm not sure where the article has got £1m from.
