The consensus on here a while ago was that Barbet seemed a decent shout.

And positive, if true, that these players seem drawn to working with Warburton again

I would be surprised if we're what he's looking for and can afford him.

Sport Witness doesn't make stories up but collects from the media that do, sometimes debunking them, sometimes presenting without comment. Bit like the WLS Gossip section. We often come up there because European agents etc still seem to think we're big spenders and like to throw us in the hype mix.

The source "well respected in the Girondins de Bordeaux sphere" there is just some Twitter guy though, not even pretending to be a journalist.

Yeah but judging by the stories I thought we'd have to halve those. Plus compete with Villa and Hudds for him.

Blimey though, this seems to be happening.

also the "in London" wording, which is both in the headline and repeated in the main content seems a bit weird, considering he already lives here...

I am "in London" as I type this. whilst having lunch. at my desk.

Tbf he would have been behind Tarkowski and maybe Deen wouldn't he? Not many have a chance in this league ahead of those 2.

from Wiki

Entering the final year of his contract,[25] Barbet continued as Dean Smith's first-choice left back during the early months of the 2018—19 season and after losing his place to fit-again Rico Henry,[26][27] he returned to the team in as part of a central defensive trio under Smith's replacement Thomas Frank in December 2018.[28] Barbet continued as a starter in the new formation until suffering a season-ending ankle injury in a match versus Wigan Athletic on 30 March 2019.[25][29] Barbet rejected a new contract during the season and ended his Brentford career with 118 appearances and seven goals.[25][30]

True,he’s a good footballer and would have liked to have seen him play in mid field as he was exposed at Left back when filling in for Henry. Not strong enough in the air to play central defence imho.I heard he wanted 20k a week to sign a new contract can’t believe you will be paying that.

I’m liking this new fella Warburton, you build from the back with any new football team and if true this french guy seems like what we are looking for, we have conceded way to many goals the last few seasons and have been a general soft touch , hopefully this all changes

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

I don't know if I'm just looking in the wrong places but there seems to be a pretty wild swing of opinions around when it comes to everything about Barbet - whether he's fast or slow, a good or crap passer, better high or deep, solid or flaky... this is the first time I've seen someone suggest him in midfield.

Our manager quote “more of a number 10 than a central defender”a few months back.He isn’t quick and not a strong tackler but very good on the ball with good control and can find a pass.Very popular with our fans (was)
