But haven't the 'OB' always been hated in many circles? Or do you think it's more wide spread?
I think the difference is when you and I were younger, my parents (and I guess yours?) would say "if you're lost, find a Policeman", "if a stranger approaches you, find a Policeman". Trouble is now they aren't around and even when they are, they aren't the old bobby on the beat they used to be, most things are too much hard work (I guess the mountain of paperwork generally isn't worth it) and they'll say it's a civil matter and bugger off.
Respect works both ways, but the police force (sorry, police 'service') has been run down and we need the local police back that people knew, walking beats and interacting, from local police stations.
I'd pay more tax for that. | |

Very true. Police arn't respected, teachers arn't respected, older people arn't respected. My work has links to education. In schools, there is a complete lack of consequences for actions, a focus on pc nonsense, teachers being abused, and the consequence is "a quiet chat".The police arn't respected because they arn't even allowed to raise their voice. Media don’t help, police portrayed in a bad light and videos released of arrests without the full story being known.
People who wouldn’t have a clue how to restrain a drugged up nutter think they are experts on social media.
Never been a massive fan of the police as they used to be so heavy handed at football, but it’s gone too far the other way now. | |
