Southgate Has Lost The Plot 22:34 - Sep 8 with 2209 viewsSaintNick

I think he has pandered to playing the latest wonderkid rather than players who have paid their dues and worked their way to the top with experience.

He seems to lack any real discipline , Greenwood & Foden should have been banned from International duty for a year for their "discrepancy" that is just a total lack of respect and discipline for the manager

WP will need to play twice as many games as Mount, based on previous stats.

And you are assuming that Mount won't have improved over the last year.

English Premier League season 2019/20
James Ward-Prowse played 38 matches 5 goals 3 Assists
Mason Mount played 37 matches 7 goals 5 assists.

Thats the same mount that managed 3 in his last 29 prem games. Not very good for an attacking midfileder. That explains why Chelsea spent 71m on Kai Havertz .

Poll: Has the Ross Stewart deal already paid off as Nick says?

A brave man I see.

JWP : 24 goals in 9 seasons, and he has improved lately (1 goal in first 3 seasons)

MM : 33 goals in first 3 seasons, and he might improve faster than JWP this season.

Superb bias, it's what makes football so fascinating.

JWP prem season 2018/19 7 goals. in prem

Mason Mount 2018/19 8 goals in the championship.

If Mount starts the season like he did finished the last one (3 goals in 29 prem league games) he will be getting splinters. Cold Hard Facts

First ever season in the PL, in a young team, full of first timers in that league, 7 goals in 37 games.

WP, seasoned player, who takes all the free kicks, and presumably penalties, 5 goals in 38 games.

I like your bias, but it is surely misplaced here. Mount is a seriously good player, who will keep improving.

He’s not that good.

He’ll be getting splinters on the bench at Chelsea this season.

Mount to score at least 2 more goals than the bandy legged boy, and more goals elsewhere.

providing Mount features in at least 25 league games

PS, I don't come on here with a funny face, just a collection of numbers.

3 young Portsmouth lads are in the England set-up, but nobody born in your town has made it. It looks like the Portsmouth way is best.

Oh God, its another Groundhog Day zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

So who is the 3rd player in The England Squad?

I presume the other 2 are Mason Mount who signed for Chelsea at 6 years old and has never been on Portsmyth's books, but did receive world class coaching in his back garden from his dad who was a big time coach at Havant or somewhere, and our own JWP who has been with us since 8 years old and funnily enough never been on Portsmyth's books either.
Being born in a certain place is hardly the basis for claiming credit for how they have developed as players at other clubs from a very young age is it. Tyrone Mings from the squad was at our Academy 2001 - 2009, so I think we'll take credit for his progress thanks.

Sounds like you are worried Mount is going to get splinters, what with Chelsea spending 71mill on some one who plays in his position. If only it had been pointed out to you several times on the thread already!

Hardly Groundhog day, but if one of your posters goes on about 'The Southampton way' ie a real groundhog statement, then I will quite obviously point out that we have 3 Pompey born players who turn out occasionally for England. Mount was in the academy, and OC only ever went to your academy as his old man was laid off at Pompey in a coaching role. Your club though OC was too small, remember?

I am just saying that Mount is a better player than WP, but nobody seems to want to take up the sportsman's bet.

Look, Soton aren't a big enough club to leave WP on the bench, so I am setting a fair parameter, and Mount is still only 21.

If you are too scared to take on the challenge, then fair enough, and hardly surprising.

Yes they have a hugely smaller population and don't have a decent football team . Portsmouth fulfill one of those criteria.
