On the plus side Hojbjerg is getting found out 10:55 - Mar 15 with 1166 viewsButty101

"I don't know what's happened to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg recently. He started the season absolutely on fire, but I think it has gone under the radar how poor he has been in the past few weeks.

Hojbjerg was nowhere to be seen during Sunday's game, but he was not the only one. There was just poor performance after poor performance all over the pitch. It was so disappointing.

This comment on Spurs' performance from Jermaine Jenas could almost be used, word for word, to sum up our game yesterday:

"It was an all-round shocker of a display from Tottenham against Arsenal but, first and foremost, their mindset for the game was absolutely awful.

Going into any derby with the type of mentality I saw from the whole Spurs team in the first half is asking for trouble. They were there to be beaten, as simple as that.

I don't see the point in putting Harry Kane, Gareth Bale, Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura on the pitch if you are just going to sit off the opposition and let them have control of the game like they did.

The one thing you always try to do in these situations is let the other team know who is boss. The last thing you want to do is let them build their confidence, but Spurs did exactly that.

Early on, Arsenal were playing one, two then three passes and you could see them thinking 'yeah, this is feeling good'. No-one stopped them."

We similarly have players who disappear in games, or do the bare minimum from a work rate perspective. This season it is often the case that we are carrying 2 or 3 under performers and the problem is that now, with such little option from the bench, these poor performing players have to sometimes play the whole game.

No wonder we lose games !! Then to top that, when we make changes from the bench and continue to play the same way, we somehow expect these subs to win the game for us - even though they are generally not good enough to start that game in the first place !!

As for Hojbjerg, over all he has been good this season, but like when he was here, he will go missing the odd time. The difference is, Spurs have 4 or 5 others to replace him when he does it. If JWP or Diallo go missing, at the moment we don't have another HM to replace them - other than perhaps Jankowitz, or playing Armstrong out of position.

To be fair to PEH, Mourinho has the knack for making good players look average. See what he has done to Kane and Son who were on fire, Bale too, not to mention the rest of the side. He's done it to the squads of every club he has managed for the past 6 or 7 years. Also, his track record with getting players in is hardly inspiring, so that could be more of the true indicator regarding PEH.
