Grandparent rule is pure blag, its opportunism and disingenuous to say he is a Scot when he was born in England played for England plays in an English team and an opportunity comes up to play in a major Championship and chooses another nation as it puts him in a shop window to go to another larger English football team to play for.

In general, generally international football isn't thought of as highly as it once was by clubs, fans and players, players on the periphery may cherish their few caps more but regulars can't be arsed, it shows.
This can be seen by 2 future England regulars of Foden and Greenwood who already can't be arsed by breaching protocol in a pandemic for a bunk up, its not an all or nothing scenario of is and isn't, by and large no one particularly cares for international football anymore, its a shame but a reality.
As for Adams choosing Scotland, fair enough but that is because he wasn't picked by England so therefore he chose a second option, that is being disingenuous to Scotland fans as they'll see through that (if he fails), they've suffered this for years where as we don't as our national jersey still pulls in an awful lot of money in deals out of football.
Is he Scottish now? Well it would be hollow to be so wouldn't it?

I think as opposed to being literal it was a reference to the amount of caps dished out due to the unavailability of the better players due to them not being arsed in friendly and some qualifiers even, caps are dished out now and have become worth much less than they were, big team managers don't aspire to run their nations team at one point, we got fat Sam and now Southgate, both unremarkable managers. | |
