Salisu on 12:42 - Apr 19 with 559 views | Kennington | Whoever plays in central defence faces a very difficult task, maybe even impossible as our central midfield cover is paper thin. To top it off the cover from the two full backs isn’t great either as they are better attackers and this means the workload the CBs have to get through causes inevitable mistakes. I’d sacrifice a forward and put a proper defensive midfielder in to screen and do the boring stuff. Not sure who other than Romeu is capable of that role though.

As I was reading your post I was thinking all along that if only we had a fit Romeu we may be in a different situation to where we are now, although there may just have been a suspension or 2 to take in to account, but got to the end and I think you've got it right We've got the likes of Armstrong and maybe Djenepo who can help Ings with the scoring opportunities rather than rely just on JWP's dead balls (who for a "specialist" cant even score from the penalty spot now!)
Salisu on 18:16 - Apr 19 with 483 views | 1885_SFC | As sure as the sun will come up tomorrow morning - Ralph will send the same old team to trot out onto the pitch on Wednesday night as he did for WBA and Leicester. Shock! Horror! He might be really daring & swap Djenepo back for Theo!

Surely Minamino gets a game? Theo looks a busted flush in no way should we sign him

This is spot on. When Bednarek and Vestergaard have played with proper support around and in front of them, they have looked the part. KWP (unlike Valery, for example) is, I think, a good defender, as is Bertrand, but we so often lose the ball with then so far forward (as we did again yesterday) that the CBS just have too much to do. JWP does an awful lot to provide cover in front of them but not enough and that then leaves noone to create things from midfield. Diallo hasn't done badly but Romeu's are big boots to fill and I think he needs a break. I think it's time to give Jankowiez another go. He impressed when playing for the Swiss U21s. Hopefully he can last a bit longer this time.
