Dale v Notts Match Thread.. 10:59 - Nov 7 with 15619 views | dale1968 | Looking forward to todays game.. Ist Rd day always seems to have a special feel about it and a home tie as well. Hopefully the recent good form carries on in to todays game and we can progress? But as we know the cup throws up upsets so lets hope today is not one of them. UTDNFS

Dale v Notts Match Thread.. on 13:07 - Nov 9 by boromat | Tickets for the replay announced. Anyone know what's going on with postage prices this year? Seem very high. 'Postage will be offered on tickets purchased before 2pm on Friday 12th November at the special delivery price of £7.25.' For me it means buying on the day for the extra £2 meaning the club gets nothing. Unless it's £2 or lower it's not worth doing. |
https://www.royalmail.com/sending/uk/special-delivery-guaranteed-1pm Online price of special delivery for up to 100g and value of up to £500 is £6.75.

Dale v Notts Match Thread.. on 13:06 - Nov 9 by AtThePeake | It's a strange one with loanees. I feel like they have to fit into either the category of potentially becoming a permanent signing (O'Keeffe right now for example) or have supreme quality that we wouldn't be able to find in a permanent signing realistically (Jack O'Connell & Robert Sanchez being two good recent examples) to be effective. Hill used them to great effect in his first spell at the club but barely used the loan market at all in his second spell. I guess it depends on who is available and whether they suit what the squad requires at that precise moment. |
This is roughly where I am at too. Loanees aren't free, so I dont see the point of having half a team of them, I would rather do more research in the lower leagues and bring in more promising youngsters on 1 year contracts with a 2nd year option. At least they know more about proper Men's football and dont have fancy-dan ideas about how to play the game. I get that the loanees might solve a particular problem but ultimately, we do the hard work of honing their skills and take the risk of them making basic mistakes but don't get to capitalise on them unless we can go on to sign them and how often has that happened? There are probably many more good footballers who dont get picked up by league clubs than do. Maybe we should be running open trials for various age groups from say 13 all the way up to early to mid 20s as part of our pre-season plans.

Yeah I get it but when you can turn up on the day and pay an extra £2 it seems a bit strange offering it. Obviously might be different but we were in danger of selling out our allocation.

It was only a fiver admission, I believe, as some sort of attempt to mark Remembrance weekend by breaking the National League attendance record.
