Non League Floodlighting Costs 16:26 - Sep 28 with 1296 viewsPoirot

Interesting article linked below highlighting how non league sides and maybe even league sides are wanting to switch evening games because they cannot afford to turn the floodlights on.

I know sholing are facing a doubling in costs and are wanting midweek games moved forward.

Would be a sensible move for all Non league teams below the National League level to bring Saturday games forward to 2pm this winter

It came to this in 1973/74 when we had an energy crisis, back then games kicked off early so floodlights weren't needed , I skipped off school to watch us play Norwich in the League cup as there was a floodlight ban and so the game was played on a midweek afternoon .

I also remember the club hiring a generator so they could play a night game with the floodlights.
