Time to ditch FIFA? 14:31 - Nov 29 with 1237 viewssaint901

This world cup (and the last) have shown us that FIFA really are spineless and corrupt and interested in football only for the riches it can bring those lucky or criminal enough to be high ranking officials in national FA bodies.

They have taken a game that was played by and governed for the working classes and made it into a vast entertainment industry in which us mere mortals are just seen as sources of income.

They have no morals or ethics worth a damn and have shown themselves capable of stunning hypocrisy and graft.

It would be foolish to think that a global game can be run by clubs or even perhaps continental organisations like UEFA but it seems to me that a revolution is required.

That can be a quiet one such as fan action to increase participation in local FA and eventually national FA so that we can influence decisions. In other words get a seat at the table and work from within. That will need two generations at least.

Or we can force change by encouraging the "big" clubs to reactivate their super league ideas (and not doing that is why Liverpool and MU are for sale) which will almost certainly see them removed from UEFA. If so, then they can withhold their players from the UEFA/FIFA competitions (who may even ban the players.)

The star players will be faced with a big club, playing big clubs every week, and having a big salary or playing for their country against weakened opposition. Would they choose money or patriotism?

Would fans pay money to watch a super league - would TV pay money for it? I think they would.

Imagine if this WC was between teams who were stripped of their superstars. Who would watch? Would TV want the games?

This approach causes a generations worth of disruption and rich clubs suing rich FA's (do we care) before reaching a compromise or a new organisation in which the game and those governing it are required to adhere to the democratic wishes of the fans.

AH - I was just day dreaming and all the above is nonsense.

The decisions to award World Cup to Russia and Qatar go back many years, and one would hope that things quite so ridiculous would not happen again.

That said, Infantino has behaved like a tit at various points during the WC itself.

I don't know whether this is FIFA or some other rule making body but whoever has introduced VAR, allowed a system to continue where a linesman holds a flag he's not allowed to raise, and has chosen the World Cup to add approximately 5 minutes to every half should be sacked immediately.

We need a review of all the rules by people who actually love the game, not by these moronic petty bureaucrats who clearly have no clue about anything.

The clubs tried to ditch UEFA/FIFA but fans took to the streets to protest and it didn't happen.

Gianni Infantino loudly booed when a shot of him appeared on a big screen at the game last night.
