Shamima Begum has lost her appeal against the government's decision to remove her British citizenship and remains barred from returning to the UK.

Begum, now 23, left the country as a teenager to join the Islamic State (IS) group in Syria.

Personally, I'm glad she's been refused citizenship, but I just wonder how many times she can appeal against this decision, and who pays for her legal team, must be costing a fortune.

Thoughts ?

In years gone by she'd have had her neck stretched. Should probably be grateful that her citizenship is all that she's lost.

We are only hearing her side of the story. As ever these days people can't think beyond what they are presented with by our campaigning media.

Think of the evil kids who killed Jamie Bulger. Even younger. Maybe we should have left them off .
She's not our problem anymore.

Did she kill anyone?

The judges accepted that “as a matter of basic common sense” Begum was groomed in the UK; that it was not plausible that she could have organised her travel to Syria by herself; that there is credible suspicion she was trafficked for the purposes of sexual exploitation; and that UK institutions are likely to have failed in their duty to protect her.

Not directly but venturing out to Syria. Joining a brutal regime, which is the enemy of this country. She is complicit. Didn't she watch TV when innocent people were getting blown up, beheaded, tortured etc
She made her choice. She now has to live with that.
Her citizenship has been revoked. Not our problem any longer.

She was quite happy to watch others to do the deed and help in attaching suicide vests possibly to those who were forced to comply , but I see you're happy to ignore that detail , care to defend that little detail

If she was attaching suicide vests she is more than complicit.

If the security services don't want her here, that's good enough for me.

I don't know enough about the whole situation to make a balanced judgement. But someone said yesterday, imagine this scenario. A person from another country was in the UK. While in the UK that person's country decided they were a security risk. So they removed the person's citizenship to prevent them from going home. That would mean that that security risk (terrorist ?) was left for us to cope with.

In that scenario the British people would be up in arms saying their own country should take them back and sort them out.

We have been lumbered with hundreds of thousands of security risks in the last twenty years alone and more security risks are arriving every day.

You've got your own mind at 15. No excuses. She not coming back. Lets move on and this is a lesson for any others who romanticise over joining a brutal Islamic caliphate or being a threat to our country.
My sympathy is with all the innocent people who died from this and similar organisations

You do realise that this isn't the first case of someone being stripped of their citizenship , shes not unique in anyway its just she's become a focus by the media (BBC no supprise there) , where was the outcry for the 464 people who've had been stripped of their citizenship since the law was relaxed 15 years ago
Home Office figures record 175 people being deprived of their citizenship on national security grounds, and 289 for fraud, since 2006. Before that, it had not happened since 1973.
Be thankful that we do have mechanism that when it works helps protect the citizens of this country againgst those who act againgst us .

You think 15 year olds are responsible adults under law? She hadn't even reached the age of consent.

Think carefully before you answer this?

What was the age of consent in ISIS controlled territory? I would imagine a 15 year old would be considered too old for many out there.

She went out to Syria with two other girls. Another was already out there. Were they forced? Very much doubt it. Wheres the evidence she was groomed? Yes of course they are responsible. Just look at the Bulger case. Those two boys paid the price with custodial sentences. They were far younger than this woman.

Questions do need to be asked how three children can fly unaccompanied to a war torn country though.
