Agreed. If Mane was to go, then off the top of my head we've had players join Norwich, Brentford and Southampton from our Youth Academy within the last year. Nevett is as good a defender as I can remember us bringing through and others have looked decent in cameos with the first team. Either the academy has gone through a purple patch over the last 12 months or more likely, we are finally seeing the club geared towards developing them right up until the First Team.
For all (fair) criticisms of McNulty over the last few weeks, he's brought a clear pathway back from the Youth team to the First team. It is absolutely criminal that this was allowed to disappear under Stockdale and Bentley and even more criminal that we're in a position where it looks like this great asset is effectively being prepared to be removed completely. |  | | |

Is it McNulty driving this or the fact he has no choice as we have no money to get players elsewhere…I would guess the latter. The only manager who really seemed to utilise the academy well was Hill and also got some good money for players. | | | |

It’s especially strange when we spent a good amount of time with only Henderson fit in the first team, yet players like Bailey and Kelly were excelling for the youth team every week and weren’t considered.
