Talksport had a big bit on the weekend games this morning, well about Arsenal, so they are also trying to plug the women's game a lot as well. The bit I listened to (briefly) was interesting in that abuse is clearly coming in to the game with it being thrown at the Arsenal manager throughout the game apparently with the fans demanding he gets the sack! Loads of made up P45's being branded about around the ground, as well as "(manager's name) out" graffiti on walls outside the Emirates (can't remember his name but he's been there 4 years! But they do get crowds of around 60k I think for the top games, but as with the mens game, it is the big 3 or 4 clubs that dominate, and minimal attendances for the bottom third of the league Personally, it would take a helluva lot to get me to watch a women's game as apart from a few decent players at the top there are a lot that are not from what I have seen As one comment in reply to Nick's article says, if they want to grow the game, more women should go and watch the games | |
