I am all for improving the quality of the team but how many defenders do we want, in the squad we have Gordon, tutnda, hogan, eel, moss, hosahhah, beckwith, Bilongo and Perry that 9 and if you count Pritchard, rolling and allahraki who have played in full back/wing back position

Now we’ve started to get people who don’t feature out on loan (Humbles), I’d expect that to continue with Tutonda and Hosannah who clearly aren’t really going to appear much.

Can only think Waller is going back after his loan ends, but we may have the same issue again as Perry has signed for the same initial period of time.

Bilongo is Galvin’s replacement and Duku being Amantchi’s, so we’re not actually any different in squad structure than we have been, but would return to that point that we should let others go.

Why are you counting Beckwith? He's not playing again this season - this lad from Cov sounds like his direct replacement - we need him as we are badly missing Beckwith on that left side.

Just put it in for squad strength and positioning regardless of availability

Bolton have signed a keeper from Fleetwood today, would hope we are looking at signing Broome in the summer as a permanent keeper.

You know as well as I do that it will be another loan signing!

It seems very much a case of cutting those not good enough and replacing with those that may be, I guess at this level and budget you are unlikely to really know for sure. TBH Jim is generally ok at getting people in and giving them every chance, but if not good enough they don’t last.

Manny D 2 appears to be a journeyman that may do a specific job. Limited but experienced and a target man with around a goal every 3 is ok as cover and for squad.

Perry is a typical mutually beneficial signing for us and Coventry. Will let Coventry see if he is up to men’s football and will give him experience. Either works or it doesn’t but adds depth I guess.

Bilongo is a classic Hill signing, broken toy that was seen as having huge potential but never done it, Jim clearly thinks he has the ability so I’m assuming it’s a free transfer that has a limited risk but may be a steal.

Can’t see any more coming in other than a keeper, hopefully Whatmuff. Maybe a young striker on loan but we are not York so doubt it will be anyone with a real pedigree. We have enough bodies it’s just if they and Jim are good enough!

JK Rolling?

I'm not a maestro, far from it, but I just engage my brain before posting.

Of course. Though by signing Broome, we’d have a young keeper we know can be a no.1. If we then got a loanee in to challenge him, it would make sense.

Tobi
Gordon
Eels
Beckwith
Taryn/Pritchard

That’s the starting back 5 of preference in Sept.

Beckwith out for the season
Taryn/Pritchard both better further forward

Tutonga injured
Moss cover for Toni/Gordon
Hosannah just back

BJ has loaned in Galvin (now Carlisle) and Waller (1 month loan)

Absolutely makes sense for him to recruit for these two positions for the rest of the season.

Same with ‘i don’t need one mani, mani, mani, big jims got 2 manis, manis, manis’

Nice to know that Jim can race out and get 3 useful-looking new defenders at the drop of a hat like this.

Pity he can`t do the same with the attack, I wish Manni Duku all the success in the world but he was not quite what I was hoping for.

We play the bottom 2 teams starting tomorrow (with Solihull between)so this is a great chance to improve the goal difference which is already good and may be vital at season end.

Not the time for classic McNulty-ball i would suggest, especially with Southend and the February games looming. But does Jim think like that I wonder?

What’s “classic McNulty-ball?”

We’ve not changed the way we play all season long. Sometimes we haven’t played as well, but with 17 wins from 22 games, not sure we can ask for much better.
