St Mary's has terrible acoustics. Nearly every other stadium, including Wembley, is better for making a noise.
I assume Barr used materials and design to reduce 'noise pollution' to the local area in order to overcome planning concerns. Even Sunderland, who were renowned for the noise at Roker, suffer from the Barr design factor. |
Perhaps that is all true and the acostics are poor, but at the Arsenal game at St Mary's it was loud, proud and passionate. St Mary's was as good I have ever heard it and was on par if not better than the West Brom playoff game. It was purely because fans got off their seat and shouted loudly with excitement and passion. The acosutics didn't matter because fans actually shouted and roared on the team. In other games you can hear a pin drop because fans just sit there in silence.
I can see with my own eyes in some games, fans just sat there in silence, whereas in many of the big games, fans are very loud and passionate. The Bristol City game was a massive game and it was very quiet at times. We need to be as loud as we were against Arsenal and at Wembley in the final few games. I would argue that time for beers and the build up during the day before the game plays a big part in it. [Post edited 26 Apr 23:53]
