Bielsa wasn’t charged because he didn’t breech an FA regulation wrt his position. The club was fined, but Bielsa opted to pay the fine on their behalf.
The FA cannot ignore the offence committed by Eckert as it was a breech of specific regulations now in force, and actually, he personally has not been punished in any way despite admitting the breeches. The FA will have to impose some kind of punishment, but I’m guessing it will be a fine, match ban or a combination. The club will not be able to claim double jeopardy, because they, ans an entity are not being punished again. |  |

Marcelo Bielsa admitted Leeds United had spied on all their opponents which makes what we did look tame.
It's a common misconception that Leeds and Bielsa did not breach any EFL Regulations. They were in fact charged with a breach of EFL Regulation 3.4 - "In all matters and transactions relating to The League each Club shall behave towards each other Club and The League with the utmost good faith."
That aside, WTF are the FA playing at. The intern was caught spying and reported on May 7, 2026. That's 11 weeks ago. Why did they only invite Tonda in for a formal interview 2 weeks ago bearing in mind the Championship season starts in just over three weeks.
Tonda has until 29 July to respond after being charged and any punishment is likely to take at least a week to happen. That will give us 1 week to potentially find a new manager.
This is p!ss poor from the FA. From interviewing Tonda to charging him there have been 75 working hours (10 working days). Why has this taken so long?
I'm not a conspiracy theorist but this whole situation stinks. We are being unbelievably harshly dealt with compared to other club's who have gained huge advantages through financial misconduct yet only received minimal punishment if any |  | | |

I am seeing conflicting reports about the possible punishment. Some saying a 1 to 6 touchline ban and/ or a fine, whilst some reports saying he will be baned for at least 6 months. In that case, we would need a new manager.

In accordance with standard protocol, cases involving breaches of FA Rule E3.1 (misconduct and bringing the game into disrepute) are handled by an independent Regulatory Commission appointed by the Football Association.
