This is pretty much down to Puma’s inability to react quickly to the situation due to the manufacturing choices they and most others have made to squeeze extra profit margins out of replica sales. Lead times for re-orders on a popular kits can be 3-6 months. Why? - for a start nobody holds core stock of fabrics anymore so the fabric has to be ordered and specially made. Trouble is, a company like Puma will be prioritising far higher profile clients such as Manchester City so if there’s a wait to produce fabric Saints will be near the back of the queue. Then, when the kit is physically produced it has to come from Vietnam to the UK by boat! All things considered, if they get stock back in for Christmas the Club will have done well…
Back in the day when we still had a proper garment industry here in the UK the shirt would have been back in stock in 4 weeks or less, companies like Glenfield Textiles in Leicester and Sperrin Textiles based in SW London would have the fabric order turned around in a week or two max and then a the same sort of lead time to have the shirts made once the fabric and trim was available. Sadly the fact that there was extra margin to be made by having everything made thousands of miles away meant most of the UK’s garment manufacturing industry died a slow and painful death a while ago now… |  | | |

I swore off buying football shirts as I’m old and only wear them knocking around at home but I made an exception in this case.

Likewise, I haven't worn at football shirt anywhere for years apart from down the gym or on my treadmill in the garage
That is a really nice shirt, mainly in my view because of the badge
I ummed and ahhed buying one when they were first released and then saw them at the Stoke game and liked it even more
My own fault for hesitating, I wasn't bothered about the cost of the shirt and am happy to pay the club the full price rather than buying a snide one
Still, the DH Gate one I bought of the 1976 anniversary shirt is really good quality so hopefully this one is too [Post edited 13 Sep 14:20]
