Swansea City is pleased to announce the signing of defender Tiago Parente on a season-long loan from Benfica, subject to the relevant clearance.

The deal also includes an option to buy the Portugal age-grade international, who has come through the academy ranks at Estadio da Luz.

The 20-year-old made his senior debut for Benfica in May 2025, and will wear the number 20 shirt in SA1. He watched his new teammates in action during Saturday’s friendly victory over CD Leganes at the Swansea.com Stadium.

He will provide cover and competition in the left-back position for the Swans, and could be in contention to be involved in Saturday’s Carabao Cup tie against Birmingham City.

Thanks mate. It looks as if we may have our squad sorted before the season starts.

Matos is looking to add another center mid and center back, according to the BBC report I read. With an 8/10 chance in signing Stewart, I think we're close to having the team sorted. Very close! Just remains to be seen if Vip departs if we get anybody else?

RB concerns me.

Lissah and Key are plenty for RB. Lissah will probably start the season in possession. We've got two LB's, and four CB's if you include Carter Heywood, who has featured for most of pre-season. Unless there's any departures I'd say that's enough.

There's a danger that we're going to overdo it in terms of squad depth and it's not going to be easy keeping so many players happy so I wouldn't bet against a departure or two, especially in midfield and out wide.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

My argument there is that Lissah is unproven at Championship level. Key was a liability last season. I hope Lissah does well but he is still learning his trade.

See I don't understand that mindset at all. Key struggled at times for sure, but he ended the season very well indeed. Why pretend otherwise?

Sorry, but he struggled last season. BTW he only played 3 games out of 10 in the last ten games of the season.

Ended the season well, had much going on behind the scenes.

He left his man in acres of space on Saturday , wanders infield too much and gets caught out too much for my liking

The problem is he’s a wingback being asked to play as a fullback ,Tymon has the same problem,he also makes mistakes but doesn’t get the stick Key gets
The way we set up we need proper defending fullbacks,it’s been a problem we’ve had for a long time now

We should always get behind every player in our team but if they are struggling it’s up to the manager to do something about it
We only have opinions on what we see
