And they're not called Rochdale Hornets either. Just Hornets. No Rochdale.
As NC alludes, the old club cheated by going bust, shitting on everyone including on their own doorstep. But with some clever paperwork and a complicit governing body, they amazingly re-emerge with a new name but retain their ground and league status.
Job done. It stinks really. I'm glad they dropped Rochdale from their name. |  |

The article on the rugby heritage room (or the rugby LEAGUE heritage room to be accurate) doesn't even say where it is!
Incidentally they have now introduced Rochdale into the club's name - but they were just Hornets RL for the first 2 years of their existence. Given there was considerable vitriol among some of their sparse set of fans about the town and council at the time one wonders whether they will do the right thing and decline the honour given they think little of the town and council. |  | | |
