| Saints V Manchester City The Verdict on 11:02 - Dec 20 with 622 views | SonicBoom | Odd game. We had lots of the ball but didn't really create any really clear cut chances. Ings was entirely predictable and I can't understand how he was put straight back in the side and played every game since his operation. OK a hammy might have happened anyway but it also could be caused but overplaying whilst recovering. One injury often causes another and I think he was rushed back. I'm not sure what Ralph was thinking bringing on the two young lads up front. I think you might be right that he wanted to save others for later games and was happy to lose this game. Had one of them scored hit would have looked like an inspired gamble. Again you reference the crowd in relation to Redmond. Seriously Nick you must be the worlds most patient fan. I know it doesn't "help" to hear the crowds frustration but its perfectly natural. The guy is a professional footballer. I can understand being beaten by better players but Redmond has a basic lack of technique. passing straight out of play, or letting the ball go under your foot are fundamental skills that we don't expect these guys to make. Same as hitting the bar at Arsenal when it seemed easier to score. We are not talking about being schooled by a De Bruyne, but by his own lack of composure with the ball. Im sorry, but if you are expecting fans not to get frustrated by that then you're living in a dream world. What City showed - and to some extent Arsenal - is that we are a very good side but that the difference between us and genuine top 4 sides is that spark of creativity needed to create a goal in tight games. We don't quite have it. But then they've spent billions so it's not surprising. Overall we put up a pretty good show and it will all look rosier again if we win the next couple of games which we certainly could do. | | | |

Yep, it looks like the natural order is now being established. Liverpool will likely win it again. Leicester look good for top 4. Man City will climb into the top 3 soon. Man U play later and could put us back to 6th. Chelsea and Spurs will take the other top 5 places. Unfortunately, despite dreaming of Saints winning the league etc it is so predictable really. Interesting table right now, assuming Utd now go on to beat Leeds (4-0 up as I write) and they have a game in hand over the rest of the top 6 (inc us) And Spurs just one point above us, so as you say, normal service is being resumed and City are just one point below us with a game in hand Gonna be a few what ifs for us after these last 2 games | |

The last 2 games and considering we lost to Spurs, lost to Man U, lost to Man City, have shown me that we can probably only hope to be the best of the rest. We are not quite at the same level as what will likely be the top 5. There is also Wolves. Everton etc so it's so tough to break into the top 5. These "top" teams always find a way don't they. Back to reality I think. [Post edited 20 Dec 2020 17:30]
