Was flicking through the channels and saw that Scotland were playing Ukraine again tonight.
Watched the last 30 mins to basically see how our players got on.
Surprisingly both were on the pitch, so presume they must have started.
Adams had a header against the bar, another header soon after, that the keeper saved with his feet, another fluffed shot and a heavy touch took him away from goal when he was in again.
Armstrong had a great headed chance but he put it well wide when it seemed easier to hit the target. He seemed a little tired, but I guess he would be as he unusually started a game !!
Both Saints players were subbed together and bizarrely Scotland went on to score 3.
On BBC, Adams got 7.57 out of 10 and Stu got 7.19. |  |

I could be wrong Tim but my inclination is that per chances Adams has an awful conversion rate. He seems very good at hitting anything and everything except the gap between the posts, the bar and the keeper. I seem to recall someone saying after he scored against Leicester - Adams gets very good goals and has a brief purple patch and then goes ages without being able to hit a barn door. He can make the difficult look easy and the easy difficult. |  | | |

That inconsistency is frustrating.

Adams and Armstrong just took Southampton finishing to Scotland. Dykes and Fraser were far more effective when they came on.
I don't know why the finishing of our players is so bad. Their heading is especially weak. When Dykes headed his two goals in, with power and accuracy, I thought, none of our players can do that, and he is only a Championship player. |  |

I think one of the problems with our players is their lack of bravery. They are afraid to stick their head in where it hurts and they have an awful tendency to close their eyes when they head the ball. As for their shooting, surely they should have learned by now that if you lean back when you shoot, the ball is going to go soaring over the bar.
I know Danny ings is not a popular person on here and maybe he is past his best but he was brave and he was the last good finisher we had. He was also the last striker we had who was a good header, both in attack and in defence. even though he wasn't particularly tall. As for his shooting, he hunched over the ball and placed his shots. Marian Pahars was very popular and prolific. Two good feet and good with his head. An instinctive poacher who also scored from the most unlikely positions and situations. Lots of assists and red conning cleverness.
That said, he messed up and missed a plenty.
