Confession on 18:55 - Mar 16 with 1620 views | felly1 | I don't! I was a Ralph fan like most others, he hit the best out of an Ings inspired team and massively improved JWP. We had many great moments and disasters under him and his likeable character enamoured him to the fans. But... The last six months he'd run out of steam and we were found out big time. He looked and sounded finished and there is no doubt he should have binned him off at the end of last season, even though I agreed with persevering till Xmas, that proved to be a mistake and has definitely contributed to our demise. Confession on 19:26 - Mar 16 with 1566 views | MattFinish | Ralph for most of his tenure had a far worse squad than now but under his tenure we were never in a relegation battle
Confession on 19:36 - Mar 16 with 1553 views | 1885_SFC | I truly believe a number of the players had stopped playing for & believing in Ralph. We shall probably never know the real reasons as to why... but as much as I liked the guy, he had to go - sadly.

Confession on 19:58 - Mar 16 with 1526 views | obelisk | Ralph had already relegated Saints to 90th out of 92 teams. He should have been kicked out in the summer.
Confession on 12:24 - Mar 17 with 1379 views | Ifonly | You've still got him Grumpy. Look at the display on Weds. Classic Ralph formation, slow build up play, lots of unproductive possession, no cutting edge, useless crosses, conceding a late goal to finish us off. I swear I had to stop and think if the last 6 months had actually happened.

Exactly, the same safe sideways football

Confession on 14:50 - Mar 17 with 1290 views | MattFinish | I think what people are continually missing is the complete lack of ability of our forwards to find space, make movement, get into dangerous positions, hold the ball up etc means that we have to play it sideways | | | | Login to get fewer ads

What you say is partly true - players are too static. I've said that here before myself. But we don't "have to" play it sideways. It's a choice, we can take a risk. Also, if the players were good enough, we wouldn't have to worry about them being in space, they would be able to keep the ball under pressure and then feed it to someone else who's also in tight space, like Barcelona or Man City do. Unfortunately our lot aren't good enough to do that consistently. Under Ralph we seemed to make possession a fetish, rather than sometimes taking a chance and moving the ball forwards quickly. Ralph carried on with that approach despite it not getting results or suiting the players we had. Now we seem to be doing much the same again.

No one is missing that. It’s very much the sum of all parts.
