Have to admit, I never buy match programmes but I like keeping ticket stubs from away games as a souvenir.
However, the repeated complete incompetence of our ticket office in sending out tickets for away games in a timely manner means that digital tickets can hopefully only be a matter of time.
This has worked pretty well in the last couple of big England tournaments. Even an idiot like me understands how to work it.
I am surprised the clubs are not pushing this themselves as it would save a lot in admin and postage etc.
I've also kept nearly all my tickets over the years so actually like the fact football hasn't gone down the digital route for away games. Also, the queues we get at the turnstiles for cup matches are mostly caused by mobile or e-tickets not being read by the scanners.
I know our ticket office aren't great, but surely your issues are more to do with Royal Mail? Admittedly, it is infuriating when you buy them 4 weeks in advance, but the club sometimes delays sending them out until the week of the game.

And why does the club delay sending them out until so late, do you think?

That maybe the case this time I do agree. Things do get lost in the post. The thing that pisses me off that every time it happens there is never an apology when I ring to ask where it is. It’s always ‘right this is what YOU have to do’ For a £1.50 booking fee per ticket this shouldn’t happen the frequency that it does. 4 times this season that I can remember.
The Villa game was the best. A girl reading a script blaming the Royal Mail strikes even before an apology that never came was given.
Well myself as a Royal Mail employee who had just lost 2 days pay due to strike action went down like a turd in a bidet.
Plus the absolute runaround trying to get my Season Ticket refund during lockdown when I’m surviving on Universal Credit after being laid off really puts me at odds with Southampton Football Club Ticket Office.
Lesson learnt me thinks…
WE MARCH ON

We thought that we had the answers,
It was the questions we had wrong.

No booking fee next season.
Season ticket is now £738.50 instead of £737.00.
At £32.11 per home game, I am sure you will agree this represents excellent value, Mr. Wizzler.
WE MARCH ON WITH NO BOOKING FEE.
Im not sure where you get your figures from Pat, I have just checked the two season tickets I paid for last year and they are as follows
Kingsland premium last year £737, this year £629, so that is £108 cheaper (Approx 14.5%)
Kingsland inner centre last year £660 this year £579 = £81 cheaper (Approx 12%)
That works out at £27.35 & £25.17 per game respectively
The highest season ticket for an adult new buyer is £729 for the Kingsland Plus padded seats, the next lowest is £649 or £28 per game for Itchen Centre, im not sure how you are getting these figures, the page on the website does a fine job of listing all the sections and both the total price and per game price, 0/10 for research here Pat
A comparison with other clubs found for comparative seats £675 & £560 being the mid range and £400 being the lower range
So I think £25 per game represents decent value for the Championship when you compare against buying tickets on an individual basis, maybe you think it should be lower

In what world does it make sense to require people to have a smart phone to hand to go to a football match? I have never had any of the issues that you describe in getting match day tickets. In fact, my experience with train tickets is that you are more likely to find your digital ticket doesn't turn up. Same with buying programmes on match days. The tiresome queues of people with people trying to pay with cards or their mobile phone, when you can just turn up, pay with cash and walk away. You don't need a network connection to pay with cash.

Nick, my (tongue in cheek) post was a week before the announcement of the ST prices…….
