According to the Daily Echo he has a new book out, they say

"A book chronicling the footballing adventures of the man who laid the foundations for the famed Southampton Academy and worked with players including Gareth Bale, Adam Lallana and Theo Walcott has been published.

"The completion of Last Man Standing: John Sainty, from Saint to Saints and Beyond has been a labour of love by John's wife of 20 years Lindsay and author Neil Vacher."

I'm not sure that Ted Bates or Lawrie McMenemy would agree that he was the man who liad the foundations of the "Famed Southampton Academy", we were producing great youngsters for 40 years before he arrived at the Dell with David Jones in 1997.

I think he spent about 5 years at the club running the academy.

His best period was in the 70's and early 80's when he was assistant to John Bond at Norwich City and then Manchester City.

I've seen two of John the Baptist's heads. There are several of them dotted around various churches and mosques in Europe and the Middle East.

Salome was a firm believer in the maxim: if you want to get ahead, get a head.
